Abstract

A cigar cutter is comprised of a polyhedron shaped housing formed by secured opposing symmetrical portions with a centrally disposed orifice extending there through. A slot situated along the upper portion of the housing for receiving a lever therein. An inner compartment adapted to receive a spring and a section of the lever which cooperatively engage with a cutter blade and the spring. Cutting blade is engaged with the lower end of the lever wherein the cutting blade radiated into the orifice. In operation, as force is placed upon the lever while simultaneously pushing a cigar through the orifice, a linear cut is placed across the top of the cigar.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . An improved cigar cutting device, the device comprising:
 an elongated tubular housing having a frontal symmetrical portion opposing a rear symmetrical portion that are securely affixed thereto; an orifice substantially centrally extending through the elongated tubular housing; the frontal symmetrical portion and the rear symmetrical portion being defined by an outer linear peripheral upper edge and an outer linear peripheral bottom edge, and opposing open side edges which define the length of the elongated housing; the orifice having a diameter dimensioned to receive a conventional sized cigar therethrough; a slot member being disposed between the outer linear peripheral upper edge of the frontal symmetrical portion and the rear symmetrical portion forming a cavity therein which extends downward into the orifice of the housing; an internal compartment being disposed adjacent to and abutting the slot member between the frontal symmetrical portion and the rear symmetrical portion; an enclosed bump extending upward above the outer peripheral upper edge and encapsulating the internal compartment thereon; a lever comprising an oblong shape upper portion with a ridgidly formed planar lower portion extending diagonally downward therefrom; the upper portion having a top edge extending through the slot member; a cutting blade being securely affixed within a recessed portion situated along a lower end of the upper portion of the lever; the internal compartment having a cavity dimensioned to receive a spring member which is pivotally connected to the lower portion of the lever allowing the top edge of the upper portion of the lever to be pushed downward with force into the slot member wherein the cutting blade radiates into the orifice; and the spring member allowing the lever to automatically go back into its original position when the lever is released.

         2 . The device of claim 1 wherein the elongated tubular housing has a polyhedron shape.

         3 . The device of claim 1 wherein the elongated tubular housing has a circular shape.

         4 . The device of claim 1 wherein the frontal symmetrical portion have an external wall with a direction arrow engraved thereon that define the direction in which a cigar or cigarillo is to be inserted into the orifice.

         5 . The device of claim 1 wherein the rear symmetrical portion have an external wall with a direction arrow engraved thereon that define the direction in which a cigar or cigarillo is to be inserted into the orifice.

         6 . The device of claim 1 wherein the outer linear peripheral bottom edge further comprises a loop incorporated thereon for receiving a key chain therein.

         7 . A method of using an improved cutting device as defined in  claim 1 ;
 providing the cutting device as defined in claim 1 ; applying force to the top edge of the lever pushing the upper portion downward into the slot member which forces the cutting blade downward into the orifice; and simultaneously pushing a cigar or cigarillo through the orifice wherein the cutting blade pierces through the cigar or cigarillo and creates a lateral opening into the cigar as it is pushed through the orifice.
