Abstract
A system is disclosed that includes a selectively positionable brake for a towed fishing body. Additionally, a system is disclosed that includes a speed control for a planer board. The planer board is used for fishing by being towed through water. Moreover, a method is disclosed including positioning a brake attached to a towed fishing body.
Claims

a selectively positionable brake for a towed fishing body.
2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein said towed fishing body comprises a planer board.
3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein said selectively positionable brake further comprises an engaged position and a disengaged position.
4 . The system of claim 3 , wherein said engaged position blocks water flow near said selectively positionable brake and said disengaged position substantially allows water flow near said selectively positionable brake.
5 . The system of claim 3 , wherein said engaged position comprises a surface positioned to interfere with the towing of said towed fishing body.
6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein said selectively positionable brake further comprises a moveable surface.
7 . The system of claim 6 , wherein said movable surface further comprises an engaged position and a disengaged position, wherein said movable surface is substantially perpendicular to the direction of travel of said towed fishing body when in said engaged position, and wherein said movable surface is substantially parallel to the direction of travel of said towed fishing body when in said disengaged position.
8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein said selectively positionable brake is programmable.
9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein said selectively positionable brake is positioned to slow said towed fishing body for at least one of a periodic time, a predetermined interval, a predetermined profile.
10 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising:
a housing having an inlet and an outlet for water, wherein said selectively positionable brake blocks the flow of water through said housing in an engaged position, and wherein said selectively positionable brake allows the flow of water through said housing in a disengaged position.
11 . A system comprising:
a speed control for a planer board, whereby said planer board is used for fishing by being towed through water.
12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein said speed control selectively resists being towed.
13 . The system of claim 12 , wherein said resistance is substantially against the towed direction.
14 . The system of claim 11 , wherein said speed control is programmable to slow said planer board.
15 . The system of claim 11 , wherein said speed control slows said planer board at predetermined times, periodically, or at random intervals.
16 . The system of claim 11 , wherein said speed control further comprises a movable surface having an engaged position and a disengaged position, said engaged position interfering with water flow proximal to said movable surface, said disengaged position substantially allowing water flow past said movable surface.
17 . A method comprising:
positioning a brake attached to a towed fishing body.
18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein said positioning further comprises moving a surface substantially perpendicular to the direction of travel.
19 . The method of claim 17 , wherein said positioning is performed at a periodic time, at a time defined by a predetermined positioning profile, or at a random time.
20 . The method of claim 17 , wherein said positioning further comprises moving a surface to at least one of an engaged position and a disengaged position, wherein said engaged position interferes with water flow proximal to said brake, and said disengaged position substantially allows water flow proximal to said brake.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
