System for animal health diagnosis
Abstract
A diagnosis of the health of an animal is obtained through a combination of computerized data and human interpretation. Data relates to the physical characteristics of the animal, and includes data obtained from a physical inspection of the animal. A blood or other fluid sample is used to obtain a computer generated laboratory analysis. This is reported through an internet network to the clinical pathologist. The clinical pathologist has the data relating to the physical characteristics, and thereby makes a diagnosis of the animal health. A drop-down menu on a computer screen provides supplemental reports to support the diagnosis. This can be enhanced by further input from the pathologist through keyboard entry into the computer to obtain an integrated computer report having the laboratory analysis, supplemental report, and selectively an enhanced report. The integrated report is electronically communicated to a client.

63 . A system for determining nutritional contents for a nutritional product for a canine or feline companion animal comprising:
a computing system; at least one electronic database coupled to the computing system; at least one software routine executing on the computing system which is programmed to:
(a) receive first data relating genetic descriptor genomic data to a physiological condition of the animal;
(b) receive second data comprising the effect of nutrition on the expression of the genetic descriptor genomic data;
(c) analyze the first and second data relating the effect of nutrition on the expression of the genetic descriptor genomic data to the physiological condition; and
(d) determine nutritional contents based on the analyzed data; and
wherein said nutritional contents are incorporated in a nutritional product for a canine or feline companion animal.
64 . A nutritional product comprising nutritional ingredients and having been prepared from a system for determining nutritional contents for a nutritional product for a canine or feline companion animal comprising:
a computing system; at least one electronic database coupled to the computing system; at least one software routine executing on the computing system which is programmed to:
(a) receive first data relating genetic descriptor genomic data to a physiological condition, wherein the physiological condition of the animal;
(b) receive second data comprising the effect of nutrition on the expression of the genetic descriptor genomic data;
(c) analyze the first and second data relating the effect of nutrition on the expression of the genetic descriptor genomic data to the physiological condition; and
(d) determine nutritional contents based on the analyzed data; and
wherein said nutritional ingredients are incorporated in the nutritional product.
65 . A system for determining nutritional content for a nutrition product for a canine or feline companion animal comprising:
a computing system; at least one electronic database coupled to the computing system; at least one software routine executing on the computing system which is programmed to:
(a) receive data comprising the effect of nutrition on the expression of genetic descriptor genomic data, wherein the genetic descriptor genomic data relates to a physiological condition of the animal, and wherein the data is determined using DNA fingerprinting, PCR, RFLP, sequence-specific primer (SSP), or PCR sequence specific oligonucleotide (SSO) analysis;
(b) analyze said data;
(c) based on the analyzed data, determine nutritional content for a nutrition product for a canine or feline companion animal; and
wherein said nutritional content is incorporated in said nutrition product.
66 . A nutrition product comprising nutritional ingredients and having been prepared from a system for determining nutritional content for a nutrition product for a canine or feline companion animal comprising:
a computing system; at least one electronic database coupled to the computing system; at least one software routine executing on the computing system which is programmed to:
(a) receive data comprising the effect of nutrition on the expression of genetic descriptor genomic data, wherein the genetic descriptor genomic data relates to a physiological condition of the animal, and wherein the data is determined using DNA fingerprinting, PCR, RFLP, sequence-specific primer (SSP), or PCR sequence specific oligonucleotide (SSO) analysis,
(b) analyze said data,
(c) based on the analyzed data, determine nutritional content for a nutrition product for a canine or feline companion animal, and
wherein said nutritional ingredients are incorporated in said nutrition product.
67 . A method of formulating a nutritional product for a canine or feline companion animal comprising:
(a) obtaining first data relating genetic descriptor genomic data to a physiological condition; wherein the physiological condition of the animal; (b) determining second data comprising the effect of nutrition on the expression of the genetic descriptor genomic data; using DNA fingerprinting, PCR, RFLP, sequence-specific primer (SSP), or PCR sequence specific oligonucleotide (SSO) analysis; (c) executing on a computing system one or more software routines programmed to analyze the first and second data relating the effect of nutrition on the expression of the genetic descriptor genomic data to the physiological condition; and (d) formulating a nutritional product based on the analyzed first and second data.
68 . A nutritional product comprising nutritional ingredients and having been prepared from a method for formulating nutritional content for a nutritional product for a canine or feline companion animal comprising:
(a) obtaining first data relating genetic descriptor genomic data to a physiological condition; wherein the physiological condition of the animal; (b) determining second data comprising the effect of nutrition on the expression of the genetic descriptor genomic data; using DNA fingerprinting, PCR, RFLP, sequence-specific primer (SSP), or PCR sequence specific oligonucleotide (SSO) analysis; (c) executing on a computing system one or more software routines programmed to analyze the first and second data relating the effect of nutrition on the expression of the genetic descriptor genomic data to the physiological condition, and (d) formulating a nutritional product with nutritional ingredients based on the analyzed first and second data; and
wherein said nutritional product includes the nutritional ingredients.
69 . The system of claim 63 wherein the animal is defined by a characteristic selected from the group consisting of one or more characteristics of breed type, specific breed, chronological age, physiological age, activity level, state of health or state of disease or disorder.
70 . The system of claim 63 wherein the first data are derived from samples collected from a group of animals representative of a range of genotypes and physiological conditions.
71 . The system of claim 63 wherein the first data is selected from the group consisting of breed, breed(s) of parents, pedigree, sex, age, and presence or absence of hereditary conditions and disorders.
72 . The system of claim 63 wherein the first data is selected from the group consisting of age, weight, veterinary medical history, reproductive history, present health, disorder or disease state, activity level, temperament and presence or absence of, behavioral abnormalities.
73 . The system of claim 63 wherein the first data comprises information obtained from DNA fingerprinting, PCR, RFLP, sequence-specific primer (SSP), or PCR sequence specific oligonucleotide (SSO) analysis.
74 . A system as claimed in claim 70 further comprising obtaining the genotype by DNA mapping or genomic mapping.
75 . The system as claimed in claim 63 wherein the physiological condition of temperament, longevity or cancer is assessed by serum chemistry, serum cobalamin, folate; or trypsin-like immunoreactivity (TLI).
