Abstract
A system and method for transmitting protected real-time content from one user to another is described. In a first aspect, a user sends a Rights Object to another user. In a second aspect, a user sends a Rights Object to another user via an intermediate server for a multiparty communication. In this second aspect, the users may be able to switch between designated Rights Objects as needed.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method comprising:
at a first device, receiving a plurality of rights objects, each rights object of the plurality of rights objects is associated with a user of a plurality of users, wherein:
the plurality of users includes a first user and a second user, and
the plurality of rights objects includes a first rights object associated with the first user and a second rights object associated with the second user;
receiving first protected content and a notification identifying an associated user; determining which user of the plurality of users is the associated user; in response to determining that the first user is the associated user, decrypting the first protected content based on the first rights object; and in response to determining that the second user is the associated user, decrypting the first protected content based on the second rights object.
2 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein said notification is in a Contributing Source (CSRC) field of a real time protocol packet.
3 . The method according to claim 1 , further comprising:
transmitting a message including a third rights object associated with a third user; wherein the message is a message to subscribe to a conference between the second user and the third user, wherein the first rights object and the second rights object are included in a SIP NOTIFY message, and wherein the SIP NOTIFY message is received in response to the third user joining the conference.
4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving information from a third user at the first device; encrypting the information, resulting in second protected content; generating a user rights object for the second protected content; and transmitting the second protected content and user rights object.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first protected content is protected real-time content.
6 . An apparatus comprising:
at least one processor; and at least one memory storing computer executable instructions that, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to: receive a plurality of rights objects, each rights object of the plurality of rights objects is associated with a user of a plurality of users, wherein:
the plurality of users includes a first user and a second user, and
the plurality of rights objects includes a first rights object associated with the first user and a second rights object associated with the second user;
receiving first protected content and a notification identifying an associated user; determining which user of the plurality of users is the associated user; in response to determining that the first user is the associated user, decrypting the first protected content based on the first rights object; and in response to determining that the second user is the associated user, decrypting the first protected content based on the second rights object.
7 . The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the notification is in a Contributing Source (CSRC) field of a real time protocol packet.
8 . The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the at least one memory further stores computer executable instructions that, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to:
transmit a message including a third rights object associated with a third user; wherein the message is a message to subscribe to a conference between the first user and the second user, wherein the first rights object and the second rights object are included in a SIP NOTIFY message, and wherein the SIP NOTIFY message is received in response to the third user joining the conference.
9 . The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the at least one memory further stores computer executable instructions that, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to:
receive information from a third user at the first device; encrypt the information, resulting in second protected content; generate a user rights object for the second protected content; and transmit the second protected content and user rights object.
10 . The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the first protected content is protected real-time content.
11 . One or more computer readable media storing computer executable instructions that, when executed, cause a processor to:
receive a plurality of rights objects, each rights object of the plurality of rights objects is associated with a user of a plurality of users, wherein:
the plurality of users includes a first user and a second user, and
the plurality of rights objects includes a first rights object associated with the first user and a second rights object associated with the second user;
receiving first protected content and a notification identifying an associated user; determining which user of the plurality of users is the associated user; in response to determining that the first user is the associated user, decrypting the first protected content based on the first rights object; and in response to determining that the second user is the associated user, decrypting the first protected content based on the second rights object.
12 . The one or more computer readable media of claim 11 , wherein the notification is in a Contributing Source (CSRC) field of a real time protocol packet.
13 . The one or more computer readable media of claim 11 , further storing computer executable instructions that, when executed, cause the processor to:
transmit a message including a third rights object associated with a third user; wherein the message is a message to subscribe to a conference between the first user and the second user, wherein the first rights object and the second rights object are included in a SIP NOTIFY message, and wherein the SIP NOTIFY message is received in response to the third user joining the conference.
14 . The one or more computer readable media of claim 11 , further storing computer executable instructions that, when executed, cause the processor to:
receive information from a third user at the first device; encrypt the information, resulting in second protected content; generate a user rights object for the second protected content; and transmit the second protected content and user rights object.
15 . The one or more computer readable media of claim 11 , wherein the first protected content is protected real-time content.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
