Abstract
Pregnane glycoside or a Caralluma extract including the pregnane glycoside of the present invention can be used for medical purposes and as food additives, such as a treatment of obesity, a reduction of blood glucose, a reduction of blood pressure, a reduction in hip, waist and arm circumferences, a reduction of fat, increase of BMR, a decrease of BMI, an increase of lean body mass, an appetite-suppression and a reduction/elimination of joint pain, anti-aging, a treatment for falling sex drive, the treatment for impotency and an erectile dysfunction, and an enhancement of energy levels.

A method of at least one treatment selected from the group consisting of a treatment of obesity, a reduction of blood glucose, a reduction of blood pressure, a reduction in hip, waist and arm circumferences, a reduction of fat, increase of basal metabolic rate (BMR), a decrease of body mass index (BMT), an increase of lean body mass, an appetite-suppression and a reduction/elimination of joint pain, anti-aging, a treatment for falling sex drive, a treatment for impotency and an erectile dysfunction, and an enhancement of energy levels, comprising the step of:
administering to a subject an effective amount of a composition comprising pregnane glycoside for the treatment.
57 . The method of claim 56 , wherein the pregnane glycoside comprises caratuberside.
58 . The method of claim 57 , wherein the pregnane glycoside comprises caratuberside and bouceroside, and a ratio of the caratuberside to the bouceroside is from 9:1 to 11:1.
59 . The method of claim 56 , wherein the composition is a Caralluma extract.
60 . The method of claim 59 , wherein the Caralluma extract comprises about 35% to 50% by wt of the pregnane glycoside, and the pregnane glycoside consists essentially of caratuberside and bouceroside.
61 . The method of claim 56 , wherein the pregnane glycoside is in the form of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt.
62 . The method of claim 56 , further comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
63 . The method of claim 59 , wherein the Caralluma extract further comprises a bitter.
64 . The method of claim 59 , wherein the composition further comprises at least one second component selected from the group consisting of a fenugreek extract, hydroxyisoleucine, protodioscin, zinc monomethionine, glucosamine, glucosamine with rutin, rutin, bioflavonoid, selenium, a garcinia extract, hydroxycitrate, a green tea extract, saponin glycoside, an ashwagandha extract, a shilajith, coccinia extract containing terpenes, a bitter gourd extract containing bitters, a Hibiscus Subdarifa extract containing polyphenols, a cinnamon extract containing polyphenols, a Commiphora Mukul extract containing gugulsterones, a liquorice extract containing triphytoestrogen, a red clover extract containing isoflavones, a Hop's flower extract containing triphytoestrogen, a pomegranate extract containing Ellagic acid, and bamboo silica.
65 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the second component is the garcinia extract or hydroxycitrate.
66 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the second component is glucosamine.
67 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the second component is glucosamine and rutin.
68 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the second component is glucosamine, rutin, and chondroitin sulfate.
69 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the second component is 4-hydroxy-isoleucine.
70 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the second component comprises the fenugreek extract containing 4-hydroxy-iso-leucine, the coccinia extract containing about 10% terpenes, the bitter gourd extract containing about 8% bitters, and the cinnamon extract containing about 15% polyphenols.
71 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the second component comprises the fenugreek extract containing about 50% w/w protodioscin.
72 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the second component comprises the zinc monomethionine, and citrus bioflavonoids with selenium.
73 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the second component comprises rutin and bamboo silica.
74 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the second component comprises glucosamine, rutin and bamboo silica.
75 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the second component is saponin glycoside.
76 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the second component is the garcinia extract or hydroxycitrate, and the at least one treatment is the reduction of fat and the appetite-suppression.
77 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the second component is saponin glycoside, and the at least one treatment is the treatment for impotency and an erectile dysfunction.
78 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the second component is the shilajith, and the at least one treatment is the treatment for falling sex drive.
79 . A method of treating obesity and diseases associated therewith in a patient, comprising the step of:
administering to the patient an effective amount of a composition comprising pregnane glycoside.
80 . The method of claim 79 , wherein the pregnane glycoside comprises caratuberside.
81 . The method of claim 80 , wherein the pregnane glycoside comprises caratuberside and bouceroside.
82 . The method of claim 81 , wherein a ratio of the caratuberside to the bouceroside is from 9:1 to 11:1.
83 . The method of claim 79 , wherein the composition is a Caralluma extract.
84 . The method of claim 79 , wherein the composition further comprises at least one second component selected from the group consisting of a fenugreek extract, hydroxy-isoleucine, protodioscin, zinc monomethionine, glucosamine, glucosamine with rutin, rutin, bioflavonoid, selenium, a garcinia extract, hydroxycitrate, a green tea extract, saponin glycoside, an ashwagandha extract, a shilajith, coccinia extract containing terpenes, a bitter gourd extract containing bitters, a Hibiscus Subdarifa extract containing polyphenols, a cinnamon extract containing polyphenols, a Commiphora Mukul extract containing gugulsterones, a liquorice extract containing triphytoestrogen, a red clover extract containing isoflavones, a Hop's flower extract containing triphytoestrogen, a pomegranate extract containing Ellagic acid, and bamboo silica.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
