Abstract

The present invention provides a novel polymer composed of polyarylene in the main chain and having oxocarbon groups which is particularly useful in battery and fuel cell applications.

         2 . The polymer according to  claim 1 , wherein the polyarylene is a poly(aryloxybenzoylphenylene). 
     
     
         3 . The polymer according to  claim 2 , wherein the poly(aryloxybenzoylphenylene) is a poly(4-phenoxybenzoyl-1,4-phenylene).
