Abstract

An embodiment handling method after the update of privacy profile of a target UE is disclosed. When LCS system is aware that the privacy profile of a target UE was updated, for every outstanding Location Request against the target UE, the LCS system performs a new privacy check based on the updated privacy profile. If the location request passes the privacy check, the LCS continues to handle the location request; if the location request fails in the privacy check, the LCS initiates a cancellation procedure to the location request. The LCS system can perform a new privacy check for the location request based on the updated privacy profile of the target UE, and implement corresponding processing depending on the result of the privacy check, e.g., for a location request that fails in the privacy check, the LCS system initiates a cancellation procedure.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A handling method after an update of a privacy profile of a target user equipment (UE), the method comprising:
after being aware of the update of the privacy profile of the target UE, performing, by a location service (LCS) system based on the updated privacy profile of the target UE, a privacy check on a deferred location request from an LCS client for requesting location information of the target UE if the deferred location request is in activated state; initiating, by the LCS system, a cancellation procedure to the deferred location request in activated state if the deferred location request fails to pass the privacy check; and continuing, by the LCS system, to handle the deferred location request if the deferred location request passes the privacy check.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein, if there is more than one deferred location request in activated state, performing by the LCS system the privacy check on each deferred location request in activated state.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein, if the LCS client is allowed to be provided with the location information of the target UE according to the updated privacy profile, the deferred location request passes the privacy check.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein, if the LCS client is not allowed to be provided with the location information of the target UE, the deferred location request fails to pass the privacy check.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the cancellation procedure to the deferred local request is initiated by a gateway mobile location center (GLMC) of the LCS system by sending to a core network (CN) a cancellation request including an identification of the deferred location request.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the privacy profile of the target UE is stored in a mobile location center or a privacy profile register (PPR) of the location system.

7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein if the privacy profile of the target UE is stored in the PPR of the LCS system, the process of the LCS system being aware of the update of the target UE comprises:
receiving, by a GLMC, a notification about the update of the privacy profile of the target UE from the PPR.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the process of performing a privacy check comprises:
comparing saved information related to the deferred location request with the updated privacy profile of the target UE; deciding whether the saved information satisfies a condition of the target UE's updated privacy profile to allow the location information of the target UE to be provided to the LCS client; if the condition to allow the location information of the target UE to be provided to the client is satisfied, the deferred location request passing the privacy check; and if the condition is not satisfied, the location request failing to pass the privacy check.

9 . The method of claim 1 , the method further comprising notifying, by the LCS system, the LCS client of the cancellation of the deferred location request.

10 . A method in a communication network, the method comprising:
when a stored privacy profile of a target UE is updated, performing, by a location service (LCS) system, a privacy check on a deferred location request in activated state from an LCS client for locating the target UE, based on the updated privacy profile of the target UE; initiating, by a gateway mobile location center (GMLC) of the LCS system, a cancellation procedure to the deferred location request in activated state if the LCS client is not allowed to locate the target UE according to the privacy check; and if the LCS client is allowed to locate the target UE according to the privacy check, continuing by the LCS system to handle the deferred location request.

11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the privacy check on the deferred location request is performed by the GLMC if the privacy profile of the target UE is stored in the GMLC.

12 . The method of claim 10 , wherein if the privacy profile of the target UE is stored in a privacy profile register (PPR) of the LCS system, the process of performing the privacy check comprises:
requesting, by the GLMC, the PPR to perform the privacy check based on the updated privacy profile; and receiving, by GLMC, a result of the privacy check from the PPR.

13 . The method of claim 10 , wherein if there are two or more deferred location requests in activated state, the privacy check is performed on each of the two or more deferred location requests in activated state.

14 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the cancellation procedure to the deferred location request is initiated by the GLMC sending a cancellation request including an identification of the deferred location request to a core network for cancelling the deferred location request.

15 . The method of claim 10 , wherein if the privacy profile of the target UE is stored in a PPR, the GLMC knowing the update of the privacy profile of the target UE by a notification from the PPR.

16 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising notifying, by the GLMC, the LCS client of the cancellation of the deferred location request.

         17 . A communication network comprising:
a location service (LCS) system communicatively connected with a target user equipment (UE) to be positioned and an LCS client capable of requesting location information of the target UE, wherein, when a stored privacy profile of the target UE is updated, the LSC system is adapted to perform a privacy check on a deferred location request in activated stated against the target UE to initiate a cancellation procedure to the deferred location request if the deferred location request passes the privacy check, and adapted to continue handling of the deferred location request if the deferred location request does not pass the privacy check.

18 . The network of claim 17 , wherein the LCS system comprises a gateway mobile location center (GMLC) configured to initiate the cancellation procedure to the deferred store.

19 . The network of claim 18 , wherein the GLMC is adapted to perform the privacy check on the deferred location request if the privacy profile of the target UE is stored in the GLMC.

20 . The network of claim 18 , wherein, if the privacy profile of the target UE is stored in a privacy profile register (PPR) of the LCS system, the GLMC is adapted to request the PPR to perform the privacy check on the deferred location request and to receive a result of the privacy check from the PPR.
