Abstract
A sunshade for a vehicle having a first guide and a second guide spaced from the first guide. The sunshade has a pair of edges and includes a substrate layer and an aesthetic layer fixed to the substrate layer to present a show surface. Slide portions are disposed along each of the edges and are adapted to move within the first and second guides as the sunshade moves between an open position and a closed position. The slide portions define a generally corrugated configuration to provide a force that must be overcome to move the sunshade between the open position and the closed position.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 .- 10 . (canceled)
11 . A tooling assembly for forming a plurality of slide portions on a sunshade, said assembly comprising:
a first forming portion having a first fixture and a first insert movable relative to said first fixture; a second forming portion adapted to move relative to said first forming portion and having a second fixture and a second insert movable relative to said second fixture complementarily to said first insert; and said forming portions cooperating when moved toward one another to form said slide portion of the sunshade in a corrugated configuration with said first insert and said second insert being adjustable to adjust a height of said corrugated configuration to account for variations of materials forming the sunshade.
12 . The tooling assembly as set forth in claim 11 wherein said fixtures include a plurality of fixed forming surfaces spaced from one another.
13 . The tooling assembly as set forth in claim 12 wherein said inserts include an adjustable forming surface disposed between said fixed forming surfaces.
14 . The tooling assembly as set forth in claim 13 wherein said adjustable forming surface is defined on said inserts and is movable during adjustment of said inserts.
15 .- 17 . (canceled)
18 . The tooling assembly as set forth in claim 11 further comprising a first block supporting said first fixture a second block supporting said second fixture wherein said first and second blocks are moveable relative to each other for forming said slide portion of the sunshade.
19 . A tooling assembly for forming at least one side portion on a sunshade, said assembly comprising:
a first forming portion having a first fixture and a first insert coupled to said first fixture; and a second forming portion adapted to move relative to said first forming portion and having a second fixture and a second insert coupled to said second fixture and opposing said first insert for receiving the sunshade therebetween; said first insert and said second insert cooperating when moved toward one another to form said slide portion of the sunshade in a corrugated configuration; and said first insert being adjustable relative to said first fixture and said second insert being adjustable relative to said second fixture complementary to said first insert to adjust a height of said corrugated configuration to account for variations of materials forming the sunshade.
20 . The tooling assembly as set forth in claim 19 wherein said first and second inserts each include adjustable forming surfaces selectively moveable relative to said fixed forming surfaces and opposing each other for receiving said sunshade therebetween.
21 . The tooling assembly as set forth in claim 20 wherein said adjustable forming surface of said first insert and said adjustable forming surface of said second insert are complementary to each other.
22 . The tooling assembly as set forth in claim 21 wherein said first and second fixtures each include fixed forming surfaces spaced from one another and opposing each other for receiving said sunshade therebetween.
23 . The tooling assembly as set forth in claim 22 wherein said fixed forming surface of said first fixture and said fixed forming surface of said second fixture are complementary to each other.
24 . The tooling assembly as set forth in claim 19 further comprising a first block and a second block wherein said first fixture is assembled to said first block and said second fixture is assembled to said second block with said first and second blocks being moveable relative to each other for forming said slide portion of the sunshade.
25 . The tooling assembly as set forth in claim 19 wherein said first and second inserts each define a slot with a fastener extending through said slot for tightening said first and second inserts relative to said first and second fixtures.
26 . The tooling assembly as set forth in claim 19 wherein said first and second fixtures define cutouts shaped to moveably receive said first and second inserts, respectively.
27 . A tooling assembly for forming at least one side portion on a sunshade, said assembly comprising:
a first forming portion having a first block and a first insert supported on said first block; a second forming portion having a second block moveable relative to said first block and a second insert supported on said second block and opposing said first insert for receiving the sunshade therebetween; and said first insert and said second insert cooperating when moved toward one another to form said slide portion of the sunshade in a corrugated configuration; said first insert being adjustable relative to said first block and said second insert being adjustable relative to said second block complementary to said first insert to adjust a height of said corrugated configuration to account for variations of materials forming the sunshade.
28 . The tooling assembly as set forth in claim 27 wherein said first and second inserts each include adjustable forming surfaces selectively moveable relative to said first and second blocks and opposing each other for receipt of said sunshade therebetween.
29 . The tooling assembly as set forth in claim 28 wherein said adjustable forming surface of said first insert and said adjustable forming surface of said second insert are complementary to each other.
30 . The tooling assembly as set forth in claim 29 further comprising first and second fixtures assembled to said first and second blocks, respectively, and coupled said first and second inserts, respectively, wherein said first and second fixtures each include fixed forming surfaces spaced from one another and opposing each other for receipt of said sunshade therebetween.
31 . The tooling assembly as set forth in claim 30 wherein said fixed forming surface of said first fixture and said fixed forming surface of said second fixture are complementary to each other.
32 . The tooling assembly as set forth in claim 27 wherein said first and second inserts each define a slot with a fastener extending through said slot and engaging said first and second blocks, respectively, for tightening said first and second inserts relative to said first and second blocks.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
