Abstract

The invention relates to the use of haematopoietic growth factors, in particular erythropoietin (EPO) and thrombopoietin (TPO), or derivatives analogues or parts thereof, for promoting structural tissue regeneration.

         37 . A method for healing of burn wounds in an individual using a skin graft, the method comprising topically applying erythropoietin (EPO) to said wound and applying said skin graft to said wound. 
     
     
         38 . The method of  claim 37 , wherein said EPO has additional glycosylation sites compared with native EPO. 
     
     
         39 . The method of  claim 37 , wherein said EPO is conjugated with polyethylene glycol. 
     
     
         40 . A method for promoting structural liver tissue regeneration in a subject, the method comprising contacting liver tissue in said subject with EPO. 
     
     
         41 . The method of  claim 40 , wherein said subject has liver cirrhosis, hepatitis, acute liver failure, or chronic liver failure. 
     
     
         42 . The method of  claim 40 , wherein said liver tissue has been resected. 
     
     
         43 . The method of  claim 42 , wherein said subject had a benign or malignant tumor prior to resection. 
     
     
         44 . The method of  claim 40 , further comprising administering a cytostatic agent to said subject. 
     
     
         45 . The method of  claim 40 , wherein said EPO is administered topically. 
     
     
         46 . The method of  claim 40 , wherein said EPO is administered systemically. 
     
     
         47 . The method of  claim 40 , wherein said EPO has additional glycosylation sites compared with native EPO. 
     
     
         48 . The method of  claim 40 , wherein said EPO is conjugated with polyethylene glycol.
