System for measuring the roll quality of a putting green
Abstract
A system for measuring roll quality of a putting green includes a golf ball remotely communicating with a data processing unit composed of a computer software interface. The golf ball includes a golf ball outer surface with an interior cavity formed therein. An electronic system is positioned within the interior cavity. The electronic system is composed of an accelerometer, a microprocessor, a communications system and a battery. The electronic system allows a user to initiate a roll or putt of the golf ball on any surface and record data relating to roll quality thereby creating a roll data file.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A system for measuring roll quality of a putting green, comprising:
a golf ball remotely communicating with a data processing unit composed of a computer software interface; the golf ball includes a golf ball outer surface with an interior cavity formed therein, an electronic system is positioned within the interior cavity, the electronic system is composed of an accelerometer, a microprocessor, a communications system and a battery; wherein the electronic system allows a user to initiate a roll or putt of the golf ball on any surface and record data relating to roll quality thereby creating a roll data file.
2 . The system according to claim 1 , wherein the communications system transfers the roll data file from the golf ball to the computer software interface which analyzes the roll data file and reports on surface green speed and overall roll quality.
3 . The system according to claim 2 , wherein the communications system is an RF transmitter.
4 . The system according to claim 3 , wherein the RF transmitter is a 2.4 GHz RF transmitter.
5 . The system according to claim 1 , wherein the golf ball has a 1.68″ outer diameter.
6 . The system according to claim 1 , wherein the accelerometer is a 3-axis accelerometer.
7 . The system according to claim 1 , wherein the battery is a rechargeable NiMH battery.
8 . The system according to claim 1 , wherein the roll data file includes information relating to a smoothness metric and a plane deviation metric.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
