Abstract
A method and system of selecting reviews for display are described. Reviews for a subject are identified. A subset of the identified reviews is selected based on predefined quality criteria. The selection may also be based on zero or more other predefined criteria. A response that includes content from the selected reviews is generated. The content may include the full content or snippets of at least some of the selected reviews.

on a server system, including one or more processors, memory storing one or more programs, executed by the one or more processors to perform the method, the server system responding to a search request from a client by:
identifying, in accordance with the search request from the client, a set of reviews from one or more review sources, the set of reviews comprising a plurality of reviews of one or more entities matching the search request;
generating quality scores for respective reviews of the plurality of reviews, the quality score of a respective review based on at least one of the group consisting of: a length of the respective review, lengths of sentences in the respective review, and grammatical quality of the respective review;
selecting a subset of the plurality of reviews based at least on the respective quality scores and predefined quality criteria; and
generating and sending to the client a response to the search request for display at the client, the response including content from the selected subset.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein selecting comprises selecting a subset of the plurality of reviews based at least on the respective quality scores, the predefined quality criteria, and predefined age criteria.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein selecting comprises selecting a subset of the plurality of reviews based at least on the respective quality scores, the predefined quality criteria, and predefined content criteria.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein selecting comprises selecting a subset of the plurality of reviews based at least on the respective quality scores, the predefined quality criteria, and predefined rating score criteria.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein generating quality scores comprises:
generating quality scores for respective reviews of the plurality of reviews, the quality score of a respective review based on values associated with one or more words in the respective review, and at least one of the group consisting of: a length of the respective review, lengths of sentences in the respective review, and grammatical quality of the respective review.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein generating a response comprises generating snippets of a plurality of reviews in the selected subset.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein generating a snippet of a review comprises:
partitioning the review into one or more partitions; selecting a subset of the partitions based on predefined criteria; and generating the snippet including content from the selected subset of the partitions.
8 . A system for processing reviews, comprising:
one or more processors; memory storing one or more programs, executed by the one or more processors, to respond to a search request from a client; one or more modules including instructions:
to identify, in accordance with the search request from the client, a set of reviews from one or more review sources, the set of reviews comprising a plurality of reviews of one or more entities matching the search request;
to generate quality scores for respective reviews of the plurality of reviews, the quality score of a respective review based on at least one of the group consisting of: a length of the respective review, lengths of sentences in the respective review, and grammatical quality of the respective review;
to select a subset of the plurality of reviews based at least on the respective quality scores and predefined quality criteria; and
to generate and send to the client a response to the search request for display at the client, the response including content from the selected subset.
9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the one or more modules include instructions to select a subset of the plurality of reviews based at least on the respective quality scores, the predefined quality criteria, and predefined age criteria.
10 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the one or more modules include instructions to select a subset of the plurality of reviews based at least on the respective quality scores, the predefined quality criteria, and predefined content criteria.
11 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the one or more modules include instructions to select a subset of the plurality of reviews based at least on the respective quality scores, the predefined quality criteria, and predefined rating score criteria.
12 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the instructions to generate quality scores include instructions:
to generate quality scores for respective reviews of the plurality of reviews, the quality score of a respective review based on values associated with one or more words in the respective review, and at least one of the group consisting of: a length of the respective review, lengths of sentences in the respective review, and grammatical quality of the respective review.
13 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the one or more modules include instructions to generate snippets of a plurality of reviews in the selected subset.
14 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the one or more modules include instructions:
to partition the review into one or more partitions; to select a subset of the partitions based on predefined criteria; and to generate the snippet including content from the selected subset of the partitions.
15 . A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing one or more computer programs for execution by a server system to respond to a search request from a client, the one or more computer programs comprising instructions for:
identifying, in accordance with the search request from the client, a set of reviews from one or more review sources, the set of reviews comprising a plurality of reviews of one or more entities matching the search request; generating quality scores for respective reviews of the plurality of reviews, the quality score of a respective review based on at least one of the group consisting of: a length of the respective review, lengths of sentences in the respective review, and grammatical quality of the respective review; selecting a subset of the plurality of reviews based at least on the respective quality scores and predefined quality criteria; and generating and sending to the client a response to the search request for display at the client, the response including content from the selected subset.
16 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions for generating quality scores comprise instructions for:
generating quality scores for respective reviews of the plurality of reviews, the quality score of a respective review based on values associated with one or more words in the respective review, and at least one of the group consisting of: a length of the respective review, lengths of sentences in the respective review, and grammatical quality of the respective review.
17 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions for generating a response comprise instructions for generating snippets of a plurality of reviews in the selected subset.
18 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein the instructions for generating a snippet of a review comprise instructions for:
partitioning the review into one or more partitions; selecting a subset of the partitions based on predefined criteria; and generating the snippet including content from the selected subset of the partitions.
19 . A method of processing reviews, comprising:
on a server system, including one or more processors, memory storing one or more programs, executed by the one or more processors to perform the method, the server system responding to a search request from a client by:
identifying, in accordance with the search request from the client, a set of reviews from one or more review sources, the set of reviews comprising a plurality of reviews of one or more entities matching the search request;
generating quality scores for respective reviews of the plurality of reviews;
selecting a subset of the plurality of reviews based at least on the respective quality scores and predefined quality criteria; and
