Information processing apparatus, control method for the same, program and storage medium

Abstract

An information processing apparatus that generates private information used as one of an encryption key for encrypting data or a generation key for generating falsification detection information used in detecting falsification of data, comprises a storage unit adapted to prestore key information, an input unit adapted to input calculation target information, a calculating unit adapted to perform a calculation on targeted information based on the key information held in the storage unit, a detecting unit adapted to detect a predetermined event, and a control unit adapted, when triggered by detection of the event by the detecting unit, to perform controls to generate the private information by making the calculating unit perform the calculation with the input calculation target information as the targeted information, and to place the key information stored in the storage unit in an unusable state.

1 . An information processing apparatus, comprising:
 a storage unit adapted to prestore key information that is common to a plurality of information processing apparatuses;   an input unit adapted to input encryption information that is private information unique to said information processing apparatus and is encrypted with the key information;   a decrypting unit adapted to perform a decryption on the encryption information based on the key information stored in the storage unit;   a detecting unit adapted to detect a predetermined event;   a control unit adapted, when triggered by detection of the event by the detecting unit, to perform controls to generate the private information that is unique to said information processing apparatus by making the decrypting unit perform the decryption of the encryption information, and to place the key information stored in the storage unit in an unusable state;   a holding unit adapted to hold the generated private information; and   a processing unit adapted to encrypt data with use of the private key as a key, or to generate, with use of the private key as a key, falsification detection information used in detecting falsification of data.   
     
     
         2 . The information processing apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the control unit deletes the key information from the storage unit. 
     
     
         3 . The information processing apparatus of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 an image capturing unit;   wherein the processing unit generates, based on image data captured by the image capturing unit and the generated private information, the falsification detection information used in detecting falsification of the image data.   
     
     
         4 . The information processing apparatus of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 an image capturing unit;   wherein the processing unit encrypts image data captured by the image capturing unit, using the generated private information.   
     
     
         5 . The information processing apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the event is any of an input of valid password information, an input of valid biological information, an initial power-on, an initial operation of a predetermined input apparatus, and a predetermined operation. 
     
     
         6 . A control method for an information processing apparatus that includes a storage unit adapted to prestore key information that is common to a plurality of information processing apparatuses, comprising:
 an input step of inputting encryption information that is private information unique to said information processing apparatus and is encrypted with the key information;   a detecting step of detecting a predetermined event;   a control step adapted, when triggered by detection of the event in the detecting step, to perform controls to generate the private information unique to said information processing apparatus by decrypting the encryption information based on the key information stored in the storage unit, and to place the key information stored in the storage unit in an unusable state; and   a processing step of encrypting data with use of the private key as a key, or generating, with use of the private key as a key, falsification detection information used in detecting falsification of data.   
     
     
         7 . The control method for an information processing apparatus of  claim 6 , wherein the control step deletes the key information from the storage unit.

The control method for an information processing apparatus of  claim 6 , wherein the event is any of an input of valid password information, an input of valid biological information, an initial power-on, an initial operation of a predetermined input apparatus, and a predetermined operation. 
     
     
         9 . A computer program stored on a computer readable storage medium for causing a computer to function as an information processing apparatus as in any of  claims 1  to  5 . 
     
     
         10 . A computer-readable storage medium storing the computer program of  claim 9 .
