Abstract
A sealing ring repair device for underwater swimming pool lights is designed to fit on the water side of a sealing ring. The repair device includes a top plate with a plurality of top plate screw holes sized and positioned to match the sealing ring screw holes. The top plate has an inner side, and a repair tab extends from the top plate inner side. The repair tab can be used to secure an underwater swimming pool light in place when the ring tab of the sealing ring is damaged.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method of repairing an underwater swimming pool light comprising:
a) providing a sealing ring, where the sealing ring has a water side and a wall side, where the sealing ring has a damaged ring tab, and where a niche is positioned on the wall side of the sealing ring; b) removing a sealing'ring connector from a top portion of the sealing ring; c) placing a top plate on the water side of the sealing ring such that a top plate screw hole is aligned with a sealing ring screw hole, and a repair tab of the top plate is aligned with the damaged ring tab; d) engaging a connector through the top plate screw hole and the aligned sealing ring screw hole such that the top plate abuts the sealing ring on the water side of the sealing ring; e) securing a light fixture in the niche by engaging a connector through the light fixture into the repair tab.
2 . The method of claim 1 where:
step (b) further comprises removing a plurality of sealing ring connectors from a top portion of the sealing ring;
step (c) further comprises ensuring a plurality of top plate screw holes are aligned with a plurality of sealing ring screw holes; and
step (d) further comprises engaging a connector through each of the plurality of top plate screw holes and the aligned sealing ring screw holes.
3 . The method of claim 1 further comprising:
providing a top plate connector with the top plate, where the top plate connector is sized longer than the sealing ring connector by at least a thickness of the top plate.
4 . The method of claim 1 further comprising:
f) removing the sealing ring connector from a bottom portion of the sealing ring;
g) placing a bottom plate on the water side of the sealing ring such that a bottom plate screw hole is aligned with the sealing ring screw hole, and a repair slot on the bottom plate is aligned with a damaged ring slot;
h) engaging a connector through the bottom plate screw hole and the aligned sealing ring screw hole such that the bottom plate abuts the sealing ring on the water side of the sealing ring;
i) securing the light fixture in the niche by hooking a fixture hook in the repair slot prior to step (e).
5 . A method of repairing an underwater swimming pool light comprising:
a) providing a sealing ring, where the sealing ring has a water side and a wall side, where the sealing ring has a damaged ring slot, and where a niche is positioned on the wall side of the sealing ring; b) removing a sealing ring connector from a bottom portion of the sealing ring; c) placing a bottom plate on the water side of the sealing ring such that a bottom plate screw hole is aligned with a sealing ring screw hole, and a repair slot on the bottom plate is aligned with the damaged ring slot; d) engaging a connector through the bottom plate screw hole and the aligned sealing ring screw hole such that the bottom plate abuts the sealing ring on the water side of the sealing ring; e) securing a light fixture in the niche by hooking a fixture hook in the repair slot and then securing a top portion of the light fixture in place.
6 . The method of claim 5 where:
step (b) further comprises removing a plurality of sealing ring connectors from a bottom portion of the sealing ring;
step (c) further comprises ensuring a plurality of bottom plate screw holes are aligned with a plurality of sealing ring screw holes; and
step (d) further comprises engaging a connector through each of the plurality of bottom plate screw holes and the aligned sealing ring screw holes.
7 . The method of claim 5 further comprising:
providing a bottom plate connector with the bottom plate, where the bottom plate connector is sized longer than the sealing ring connector by at least a thickness of the bottom plate.
8 . The method of claim 5 further comprising
f) removing the sealing ring connector from a top portion of the sealing ring;
g) placing a top plate on the water side of the sealing ring such that a top plate screw hole is aligned with the sealing ring screw hole, and a repair tab of the top plate is aligned with a damaged ring tab;
d) engaging the connector through the top plate screw hole and the aligned sealing ring screw hole such that the top plate abuts the sealing ring on the water side of the sealing ring;
e) securing the light fixture in the niche by engaging a connector through the light fixture into the repair tab.
9 . A sealing ring repair device for the sealing ring of an underwater swimming pool light, the repair device comprising:
a top plate having an inner side, where the top plate comprises a plurality of top plate screw holes sized to match a sealing ring screw hole size, and where the top plate screw holes are positioned to align with the sealing ring screw holes; a repair tab extending from the inner side of the top plate, where the repair tab includes a repair tab threaded screw receptacle.
10 . The repair device of claim 9 where:
the top plate is curved such that the top plate has a radius of curvature which essentially matches the radius of curvature of the sealing ring, and where the repair tab extends from the concave curved surface of the top plate.
11 . The repair device of claim 9 where the repair tab threaded screw receptacle is sized and threaded to match the size and threading of a ring tab of the sealing ring.
12 . The repair device of claim 9 further comprising a plurality of top plate connectors, where the top plate connectors have a length that is longer than a sealing ring connector by at least a thickness of the top plate.
13 . The repair device of claim 9 where the top plate is metallic.
14 . The repair device of claim 9 further comprising:
a bottom plate having an inner side, where the bottom plate comprises a plurality of bottom plate screw holes sized to match the sealing ring screw hole size, and where the bottom plate screw holes are positioned to align with the sealing ring screw holes;
a repair slot extending from the inner side of the bottom plate, where the repair slot comprises a repair catch positioned between repair humps.
15 . A sealing ring repair device for the sealing ring of an underwater swimming pool light, the repair device comprising:
a bottom plate having an inner side, where the bottom plate comprises a plurality of bottom plate screw holes sized to match a sealing ring screw hole size, and where the bottom plate screw holes are positioned to align with the sealing ring screw holes; a repair slot extending from the inner side of the bottom plate.
16 . The repair device of claim 15 where:
the bottom plate is curved such that the bottom plate has a radius of curvature which essentially matches the radius of curvature of the sealing ring, and where the repair slot extends from the concave curved surface of the bottom plate.
17 . The repair device of claim 15 where the repair slot is sized and shaped to match a sealing ring slot.
18 . The repair device of claim 15 further comprising a plurality of bottom plate connectors, where the bottom plate connectors have a length that is longer than a sealing ring connector by at least a thickness of the bottom plate.
19 . The repair device of claim 15 where the repair slot comprises a repair catch between repair humps.
