Abstract

A building set includes a container and several building components placeable in a receptacle defined by the container. The container has a sidewall with a opposite ends. A cover is fixedly coupled to one end of the sidewall, and another cover is removably coupleable to the other end of the sidewall. Each cover includes a building portion. The building portion of one cover has the same configuration as the building portion of the other cover. The building components are engagable with the building portion on either or both of the covers.

Claims

a container having an upper end, a lower end, and a sidewall, the sidewall and the lower end defining a receptacle into which building components can be placed, the upper end defining an opening in communication with the receptacle, the lower end of the container including an outer surface defining a first building portion on which the building components can be placed, the first building portion having a configuration; and a cover removably coupled to the container, the cover being coextensive with the opening of the container, the cover including an outer surface defining a second building portion on which the building components can be placed, the second building portion having a configuration, the configuration of the second building portion being the same as the configuration of the first building portion.

2 . The building set of claim 1 , wherein the first building portion includes a plurality of projections extending outwardly from the outer surface of the lower end of the container.

3 . The building set of claim 2 , wherein the second building portion includes a plurality of projections extending outwardly from the cover.

4 . The building set of claim 1 , wherein the cover is a first cover, the sidewall of the container extends continuously around the perimeter of the container, and the lower end of the container includes a second cover fixedly coupled to a lower end of the sidewall, wherein the second cover includes the first building portion.

5 . The building set of claim 4 , wherein the sidewall of the container includes a first end and a second end, each of the first cover and the second cover includes a body portion and a wall portion defining a receptacle, the wall portion of the first cover receiving the first end of the container sidewall, and the wall portion of the second cover receiving the second end of the container sidewall.

6 . The building set of claim 1 , wherein the cover includes a handle pivotally coupled thereto.

7 . The building set of claim 6 , wherein the sidewall includes a locking protrusion and the handle engages the locking protrusion to couple the cover to the sidewall.

8 . The building set of claim 1 , wherein each of the building portions includes a plurality of projections and each of the building components is a block with a cavity that receives one of the plurality of projections.

         9 . A building set, comprising:
a container having a sidewall with a first end and a second end opposite the first end, the container including a first cover and a second cover, the first cover being fixedly coupled to the first end of the sidewall, the first cover and the sidewall collectively forming a receptacle, the second cover being removably coupleable to the second end of the sidewall, the first cover including a building portion, the second cover including a building portion, the building portion of the first cover having the same configuration as the building portion of the second cover; and a plurality of building components, the building components being placeable in the receptacle defined by the container, the building components being engagable with the building portion on the first cover and with the building portion on the second cover.

10 . The building set of claim 9 , wherein the building portion of the first cover includes a plurality of projections extending outwardly from the first cover and the building portion of the second cover includes a plurality of projections extending outwardly from the second cover.

11 . The building set of claim 10 , wherein at least one of the building components includes a recess formed therein, the at least one of the building components being placeable on a projection of the first cover or of the second cover so that the projection is inserted into the recess.

12 . The building set of claim 9 , wherein the second cover includes a handle coupled thereto, the sidewall includes a projection extending therefrom, and the handle can engage the projection on the side wall to couple the second cover to the sidewall.

13 . The building set of claim 9 , further comprising a ramp component having a first end and an opposite second end, the first end of the ramp component releasably coupleable to the building portion of the first cover and the second end of the ramp component releasably coupleable to the building portion of the second cover when the second cover is removed from the second end of the sidewall.

14 . The building set of claim 9 , wherein the second cover includes a first side and an opposite second side, the building portion of the second cover disposed on the first side, the second side including a nesting surface engagable with the building portion of the first cover.

         15 . A building assembly, comprising:
a sidewall having a first end and a second end opposite the first end; a first cover fixedly coupled to the first end of the sidewall, the first cover including a body portion and at least one projection extending outwardly from the body portion, the first cover and the sidewall defining a receptacle; and a second cover removably coupled to the second end of the sidewall, the second cover including a body portion and at least one projection extending outwardly from the body portion, the at least one projection of the first cover having the same configuration as the at least one projection of the second cover.
