Abstract
An apparatus and method for use in conducting an eruption reaction are disclosed. The apparatus includes a catalytic solids container with a mouth and fluid egress opening and a trigger device or mechanism that allows for the controlled release of a catalytic solid into an eruptible fluid. The catalytic solids container may be adapted to be coupled to a container for an eruptible fluid.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . An apparatus comprising:
(a) a substantially cylindrical body portion having a mouth at a first end adapted to be coupled to the mouth of a soda container; wherein:
(i) the cylindrical body portion is for holding a catalytic solid that releaseable into said soda container;
(ii) at least one rod hole is provided in the cylindrical body portion, said rod opening sized to receive a removable trigger mechanism operably connected to the body portion between said catalytic solid and said mouth at said first end of the cylindrical body portion; and
(iii) the cylindrical body portion has a fluid egress portion at a second end for allowing release of soda from said soda container through said cylindrical body portion when said soda is mixed with said catalytic solid; and
(b) the trigger mechanism comprising a rod, dowel or wand adapted to alternatively retain and release the catalytic solid relative to the body portion.
2 . (canceled)
3 . An apparatus as recited in claim 1 , wherein the body portion is internally threaded within the mouth at the first end thereof.
4 . An apparatus as recited in claim 3 , wherein the mouth of the first end is internally threaded and thereby adapted to be coupled to an externally threaded mouth of the soda container.
5 . An apparatus as recited in claim 4 , wherein the soda container is a soda bottle.
6 . An apparatus as recited in claim 1 , the body portion is externally threaded about the mouth at the first end thereof.
7 . An apparatus as recited in claim 6 , further comprising a discrete, internally threaded coupling device adapted to be coupled to the body portion at the externally threaded portion thereof.
8 . An apparatus as recited in claim 7 , wherein the internally threaded coupling device is further also adapted to be coupled to the mouth of a fluid container, to provide for a coupling of the body portion of the apparatus to the eruptible fluid container in operable communication therewith.
9 . An apparatus as recited in claim 8 , wherein the fluid container is a soda bottle.
10 . (canceled)
11 . An apparatus as recited in claim 1 , wherein the catalytic solid is one or both of a candy and a Mentos® mint.
12 . An apparatus as recited in claim 1 , wherein the soda eruptible fluid is one or more of a carbonated fluid, and a Diet Coke® cola.
13 . An apparatus as recited in claim 1 further comprising a removable closure member adapted to provide for pre-loading the body portion with a catalytic solid.
