Abstract
The present invention relates to a human remains cooling pad and cooling system to supply chilled fluid to a cooling pad.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A cooling pad for chilling human remains, the cooling pad comprising:
a first end and a second end; an internal cavity that is segmented at the first end into a feed section and a return section; an inlet feed at the first end, feed section for supplying chilled fluid into the feed section of the cooling pad; and an outlet return at the first end, return section for returning fluid to be chilled, located in the return section of the cooling pad,
wherein the cooling pad is configured to circulate chilled fluid from the feed section to the return section in a one-way flow arrangement.
2 . The cooling pad of claim 1 , wherein the internal cavity further comprises a series of fluid dispersion cells for directing the chilled fluid throughout the feed section and return section.
3 . The cooling pad of claim 1 , wherein the cooling pad may be inserted into a body bag to aid in chilling human remains.
4 . The cooling pad of claim 1 , wherein the chilled fluid supplied by inlet feed is at a temperature between about 30° and 45° F.
5 . The cooling pad of claim 1 , wherein the chilled fluid includes about 30% by volume glycol to prevent freezing.
6 . The cooling pad of claim 1 , wherein the diameter of the inlet and outlet ports are approximately 0.375 inches.
7 . The cooling pad of claim 1 , wherein the cooling pad may make direct contact with human remains.
8 . The cooling pad of claim 7 , wherein the cooling pad may be located above or below the human remains.
9 . The cooling pad of claim 1 , further comprising a charcoal filter layer outside of the internal cavity.
10 . The cooling pad of claim 1 , wherein the inlet feed and outlet return comprise:
a polyvinyl chloride hose for passing fluid; a closed cell extruded foam concentrically situated around the hose; and a polyvinyl outer cover concentrically situated around the extruded foam.
11 . A cooling pad for chilling human remains, the cooling pad comprising:
a first end and a second end; an internal cavity that is segmented at the first end into a feed section and a return section; an inlet feed and an outlet return comprising:
a polyvinyl chloride hose for passing fluid;
a closed cell extruded foam concentrically situate around the hose; and
a polyvinyl chloride outer cover concentrically situated around the extruded foam,
wherein the inlet feed is located at the first end, feed section and supplies chilled fluid into the feed section of the cooling pad, and
wherein the outlet return is located at the first end, return section and returns fluid to be chilled, located in the return section of the cooling pad; and
wherein the cooling pad is configured to circulate chilled fluid from the feed section to the return section in a one-way flow arrangement.
12 . The cooling pad of claim 11 , wherein the inlet feed and outlet return are releaseably adhered together at a portion outside the internal cavity of the cooling pad.
13 . A scalable and portable human remains cooling system comprising:
a chiller unit having a chilled fluid supply, at least one primary fluid line divided into a primary fluid supply line and a primary fluid return line for providing a chilled fluid for cooling human remains and circulating warmed fluid back to the chiller for re-chilling; a flow divider manifold including a chilled fluid input having a series of chilled fluid output ports in fluid communication with the primary fluid supply line from the chiller for receiving and dispersing the chilled fluid supply and wherein the manifold includes a warm fluid output including a series of warm fluid input ports in fluid communication with the primary fluid return line to the chiller unit for re-chilling; at least one secondary fluid line including a secondary fluid supply line in fluid communication with one of the chilled fluid output ports and a secondary fluid return line in fluid communication with one of the warm fluid input ports; and at least one cooling pad including:
a first end and a second end;
an internal cavity that is segmented at the first end into a feed section and a return section;
an inlet feed in fluid communication with the secondary fluid supply line, located in the feed section;
an outlet return in fluid communication with a secondary fluid return line, located in the return section;
wherein the cooling pad is configured to circulate chilled fluid from the feed section to the return section in a one-way flow arrangement,
wherein the chilled fluid is circulated through the cooling pad and warmed fluid is returned to the chiller unit for re-chilling, such that the fluid moves in a continuous cycle.
14 . The cooling system of claim 13 , wherein the chilled fluid includes about 30% by volume glycol to prevent freezing.
15 . The cooling system of claim 13 , wherein the primary fluid supply line and primary fluid return line comprise:
a polyvinyl chloride hose for passing fluid; a closed cell extruded foam concentrically situated around the hose; and a polyvinyl outer cover concentrically situated around the extruded foam.
16 . The cooling system of claim 13 , wherein the chilled fluid supplied is at a temperature between about 30° and 45° F.
17 . The cooling system of claim 13 , wherein the secondary fluid supply line and secondary fluid return line comprise quick connect couplings for receiving either chilled fluid output ports or warm fluid input ports.
18 . The cooling system of claim 13 , wherein the chiller unit includes an outlet pressure reducing valve in fluid communication with the primary fluid supply line for providing a low flow pressure of the chilled fluid through the system.
19 . The cooling system of claim 18 , wherein the primary fluid supply line and primary fluid return line are about 1 inch diameter for maintaining flow volume and pressure to the flow divider manifold.
