Liquid penetration shields for outer garments
Abstract
A shield protects an outer garment, such as a pair of pants, against visible staining caused by a small amount of liquid, such as urine or lactating milk. The shield includes a multiple layer laminate constructed of an absorptive layer, a soft plastic barrier layer adjoined on one side to said absorptive layer, and a gripping layer on an opposite side of said soft plastic layer adapted to mechanically lock and adhere onto the outer garment. The shield is placed into the zipper fly or crotch area of any male or female pant garment, or inside of a blouse of a lactating woman. The shield provides a healthy safe barrier between the individual and the garment. It remains securely in place and feels cool and comfortable and can be changed easily when needed.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A shield for protecting a crotch area of an outer garment against visible staining caused by a small amount of liquid comprising:
a multiple layer laminate constructed of an absorptive layer, a soft plastic barrier layer adjoined on one side to said absorptive layer, and, a gripping layer on an opposite side of said soft plastic barrier layer adapted to mechanically lock releasably and detachably directly onto said outer garment without use of an adhesive or stitching, in which said shield is U-shaped for use with trousers of a male user, said U-shaped shield having a pair of parallel legs separated by an axially extending space between said parallel legs of said U-shaped shield, said parallel legs extending axially from a lower base region of said shield; said space between said legs being adapted for accommodating a fly zipper in a crotch area of said outer garment, said lower base region section of said shield connecting said legs extending in a straight line perpendicular to said axis between said parallel legs; across said crotch area directly below said fly zipper; said parallel legs of said U-shaped shield comprising an asymmetrical U-shaped shield having a wide section on one side attachable behind said zipper on a respective fabric of the fly and a narrow section on the other side attachable adjacent to the side of the fly fabric on the pants front.
2 . The shield of claim 1 in which said gripping layer comprises a substrate with hook-like protrusions for attaching to said outer garment.
3 . The shield of claim 1 in which said gripping layer comprises a substrate with an adhesive for attaching to said outer garment.
4 . The shield of claim 1 in which said gripping layer comprises a plurality of patches each made up of a substrate with hook-like protrusions for reducing thickness of the shield in selected areas.
5 . The shield of claim 1 in which said shield is disposable, said absorptive layer being about 0.15 mm. in thickness.
6 . The shield of claim 5 in which said absorptive layer is a paper material.
7 . The shield of claim 1 in which said barrier layer which has a thickness in the range of 0.013 to 0.026 mm.
8 . The shield of claim 2 in which the substrate of said gripping layer is about 0.4 mm. in thickness and the gripping layer is a total of 0.61 mm. in thickness including said hook-like protrusions.
9 . The shield of claim 1 in which said liquid is a body fluid.
10 . The shield of claim 9 in which said body fluid is urine.
11 . A combination shield and outer garment for protecting a crotch area of the outer garment against visible staining caused by a small amount of liquid comprising in combination;
a trousers pants outer garment; a multiple layer laminate constructed of an absorptive layer, a soft plastic barrier layer adjoined on one side to said absorptive layer, and a gripping layer on an opposite side of said soft plastic barrier layer adapted to mechanically lock releasably and detachably directly onto said trousers pants outer garment without use of an adhesive or stitching, in which said shield comprises two separate and unattached parallel oblong sections adapted for use with said trousers pants outer garment of a male user allowing a space for a fly zipper on said trousers pants outer garment, said parallel oblong sections being parallel to and separated by said zipper fly.
12 . The shield of claim 11 in which said shield is disposable, said absorptive layer being about 0.15 mm. in thickness.
13 . The shield of claim 12 in which said absorptive layer is a paper material.
14 . The shield of claim 11 in which said barrier layer which has a thickness in the range of 0.013 to 0.026 mm.
15 . The shield of claim 11 in which said liquid is a body fluid.
16 . The shield of claim 15 in which said body fluid is urine.
17 . A combination shield and outer garment for protecting the pants outer garment against visible staining caused by a small amount of liquid comprising in combination;
an outer garment, a shield for protecting said outer garment against visible staining caused by a small amount of liquid, said shield comprising a multiple layer laminate constructed of an absorptive layer, a soft plastic barrier layer adjoined on one side to said absorptive layer, and a gripping layer on an opposite side of said soft plastic layer adapted to mechanically lock onto a crotch area of said outer garment.
18 . The combination shield and outer garment of claim 17 in which said laminate is less than 1 mm. in thickness.
19 . The combination shield and outer garment of claim 18 in which said gripping layer comprises a substrate with hook-like protrusions for attaching to said outer garment.
20 . The combination shield and outer garment of claim 18 in which said gripping layer comprises an adhesive layer with a release layer, said adhesive layer for attachment to a crotch area of said pants outer garment.
21 . The combination shield and outer garment of claim 17 in which said shield is oval shaped.
22 . A combination shield and outer garment as in claim 17 in which said outer garment is the crotch area of a pants outer garment.
23 . A combination shield and outer garment as in claim 17 in which said outer garment is a blouse and said liquid is lactating breast milk.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
