Abstract

The invention relates to a packaging container, especially a can-like container ( 10 ) having a substantially cylindrical or tubular container body ( 11 ) made from composite film and having a lid ( 12 ), and having a base, especially a stand-up base ( 13 ), the peripheral edge ( 14 ) of the container body ( 11 ) opposite from the base ( 13 ) being stabilised by a relatively rigid or dimensionally stable ring ( 16 ) on and/or in which the lid ( 12 ) is engageable.

1 . Packaging container, especially a can-like container ( 10 ) having a substantially cylindrical or tubular container body ( 11 ) made from composite film and having a lid ( 12 ), and having a base, optionally a stand-up base ( 13 ), characterized in that
 the peripheral edge ( 14 ) of the container body ( 11 ) opposite from the base ( 13 ) is stabilised by a relatively rigid or dimensionally stable ring ( 16 ) on and/or in which the lid ( 12 ) is engageable.   
     
     
         2 . Container according to  claim 1 , 
       characterized in that
 the ring ( 16 ) has radially extending protuberances, especially ribs also extending substantially perpendicularly and/or obliquely on the ring. 
 
     
     
         3 . Container according to any one of the preceding claims, 
       characterized in that
 the ring ( 16 ) has a substantially smooth, especially planar, upper side. 
 
     
     
         4 . Container according to any one of the preceding claims, 
       characterized in that
 the ring ( 16 ) is, at least over sections, in the form of a shoulder. 
 
     
     
         5 . Container according to any one of the preceding claims, 
       characterized in that
 the ring ( 16 ) is sealed and/or adhesively bonded to the container body ( 11 ). 
 
     
     
         6 . Container according to any one of preceding  claims 2  to  5 , 
       characterized in that
 the protuberances have a radial extent in the range of from 0.1 mm to 10 mm, preferably in the range of from 0.2 mm to 6.5 mm and especially in the range of from 0.5 mm to 5 mm. 
 
     
     
         7 . Container according to any one of preceding  claims 2  to  6 , 
       characterized in that
 the protuberances co-operate with a snap rim of the lid ( 12 ). 
 
     
     
         8 . Container according to any one of preceding  claims 2  to  6 , 
       characterized in that
 a cover film sealed to the ring ( 16 ) is provided between the ring ( 16 ) and the lid ( 12 ). 
 
     
     
         9 . Container according to any one of the preceding claims, 
       characterized in that
 between the ring ( 16 ) and the container opening ( 15 ) or the edge ( 17 ) thereof there extends a neck ( 19 ) onto which the lid ( 20 ) can be locked or screwed. 
 
     
     
         10 . Container according to  claim 9 , 
       characterized in that
 the neck ( 19 ) has a radially outwardly extending locking projection ( 25 ) or a radially inwardly extending locking notch, which corresponds to complementary locking means ( 24 ), especially the snap rim on the lid ( 20 ). 
 
     
     
         11 . Container according to either one of preceding  claims 9  and  10 , 
       characterized in that
 a thread ( 21 ) is formed by stamping on the outer periphery of the neck ( 19 ), which thread corresponds to a corresponding internal thread of a screw-on lid or a screw-on cap ( 20 ). 
 
     
     
         12 . Container according to any one of  claims 1  to  3 , 
       characterized in that
 the lid ( 20 ) is in the form of a flip-top lid and is articulated by means of a film hinge ( 26 ) on the ring ( 16 ), especially on the shoulder, on the neck ( 19 ) of the opening or on a lid portion. 
 
     
     
         13 . Container according to any one of  claim 9  and  10  or  12 , 
       characterized in that
 the opening edge ( 17 ) includes a pouring funnel, especially a spout-like pouring funnel ( 27 ). 
 
     
     
         14 . Container according to any one of the preceding claims, 
       characterized in that
 the cover film ( 18 ) and/or the lid ( 12 ) has/have at least one grip tab ( 22 ) extending radially beyond the edge ( 17 ) of the container opening ( 15 ). 
 
     
     
         15 . Container according to any one of the preceding claims, 
       characterized in that
 the base ( 13 ) is constructed so as either to have a shallow cup shape or to have a V-fold or W-fold and is adhesively bonded, welded or sealed at its edge to the base-end peripheral edge of the container body ( 11 ). 
 
     
     
         16 . Container according to any one of the preceding claims, 
       characterized in that
 the portion joining the base ( 13 ) and the container body ( 11 ) is provided with stabilising structuring, especially in the form of axially extending channels. 
 
     
     
         17 . Container according to any one of the preceding claims, 
       characterized in that
 the base ( 13 ) and/or the lid ( 20 ) is/are made from relatively rigid or dimensionally stable material and especially are injection-moulded or deep-drawn. 
 
     
     
         18 . Container according to any one of the preceding claims, 
       characterized in that
 the lid ( 20 ) has an obliquely sloping upper side. 
 
     
     
         19 . Container according to any one of the preceding claims, 
       characterized in that
 the lid ( 20 ) is truncated-cone-shaped. 
 
     
     
         20 . Container according to any one of the preceding claims, 
       characterized in that
 the height of the container body ( 11 ) differs over its periphery, so that the container opening ( 15 ) of a standing container ( 10 ) slopes at an angle. 
 
     
     
         21 . Container according to any one of the preceding claims, 
       characterized in that
 there is provided a retaining ring portion or retaining ring ( 32 ) which can be snapped on around at least a portion of the neck ( 19 ) of the lid arrangement and surrounds at least part of the neck ( 19 ), which retaining ring portion or retaining ring is joined to the lid ( 20 ), especially by means of a film hinge. 
 
     
     
         22 . Container according to any one of the preceding claims, 
       characterized in that
 the lid ( 20 ) and the cover film ( 18 ) are separably joined to one another, the lid ( 20 ) and/or the cover film ( 18 ) containing substances that reduce the sealability and/or adhesive bondability. 
 
     
     
         23 . Container according to any one of the preceding claims, 
       characterized in that
 the lid ( 20 ) has a recess, especially for holding an article, which is openable towards the outside and which, before use, is closed, especially sealed, preferably with a film. 
 
     
     
         24 . Container according to any one of the preceding claims, 
       characterized in that
 the lid ( 20 ) is constructed so that it is engageable and/or stackable with the stand-up base ( 13 ). 
 
     
     
         25 . Container according to any one of the preceding claims, 
       characterized in that
 the container body ( 11 ) is formed from a composite film which, by means of a fin-seal or lap-seal, has been formed into a cylindrical, truncated-cone-shaped or tubular main body. 
 
     
     
         26 . Container according to any one of  claims 1  to  24 , 
       characterized in that
 the container body ( 11 ) is a length of extruded film tube. 
 
     
     
         27 . Container according to any one of the preceding claims, 
       characterized in that
 the container body ( 11 ), optionally also the base ( 13 ) and optionally also the cover film ( 18 ) is/are made from a laminate, especially an aluminium laminate having at least one sealing layer and optionally at least one barrier layer, especially of SiO 2 , ethyl vinyl alcohol or a metal foil. 
 
     
     
         28 . Container according to any one of the preceding claims, 
       characterized in that
 the film thickness is in the range of from 50 μm to 1000 μm, especially from 100 μm to 500 μm, preferably from 150 μm to 350 μm.
