Abstract

The performance of central air conditioning (HVAC) units is significantly enhanced and the cost of operation of the same is greatly decreased by the elements of the present invention with the water spraying system which may include an electrically actuated solenoid valve to initiate the flow of water to the water spray nozzles in coordination with the beginning of the air conditioner compressor cycle. A drain valve unit may allow water to drain from the piping and water spray nozzles when the central air conditioning (HVAC) unit is not operating.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 ) An air conditioning apparatus to enhance the performance of an air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, comprising:
an air conditioning unit including a condenser coil; a spraying apparatus to spray a fluid onto the condenser coil of the air conditioning apparatus whenever the air conditioning apparatus is operating, the spraying apparatus being connected to a supply of fluid; an electrically operated solenoid valve to control the spraying apparatus by controlling the supply of fluid to the spraying apparatus; and a drain valve unit to drain the fluid from the spraying apparatus at the end of the spraying cycle.

2 ) An air conditioning apparatus to enhance the performance of an air conditioning (HVAC) equipment as in claim 1 , wherein the drain valve unit is located at a low point in the piping network to deliver the fluid to the spraying apparatus.

3 ) An air conditioning apparatus to enhance the performance of an air conditioning (HVAC) equipment as in claim 1 , wherein the spray apparatus includes a spray nozzle having a spray angle of 90 degrees to 150 degrees.

4 ) An air conditioning apparatus to enhance the performance of an air conditioning (HVAC) equipment as in claim 1 , wherein the spray apparatus provides a flat spray pattern.

5 ) An air conditioning apparatus to enhance the performance of an air conditioning (HVAC) equipment as in claim 1 , wherein the spray apparatus provides a rectangular spray pattern.

6 ) An air conditioning apparatus to enhance the performance of an air conditioning (HVAC) equipment as in claim 1 , wherein the spray apparatus provides a conical spray pattern.

7 ) An air conditioning apparatus to enhance the performance of an air conditioning (HVAC) equipment as in claim 1 , wherein the spray apparatus discharges between 1 to 64 fluid ounces of water per minute

8 ) An air conditioning apparatus to enhance the performance of an air conditioning (HVAC) equipment as in claim 1 , wherein the spray apparatus includes a single spray nozzle to wet each surface of the condenser coil.

9 ) An air conditioning apparatus to enhance the performance of an air conditioning (HVAC) equipment as in claim 1 , wherein the spray apparatus includes only two spray nozzles to wet each surface of the condenser coil.

10 ) An air conditioning apparatus to enhance the performance of an air conditioning (HVAC) equipment as in claim 1 , wherein the spray apparatus includes only four spray nozzles to wet each surface of the condenser coil.

11 ) An air conditioning apparatus to enhance the performance of an air conditioning (HVAC) equipment as in claim 1 , wherein the spray apparatus unit includes a drain valve to drain the excess water from the spray apparatus at the end of the air conditioner compressor operating cycle.
