Abstract

The present disclosure is related to a method for executing a menu in a mobile terminal, the method including displaying a data in a display unit of the mobile terminal; selecting at least a portion of the data which is displayed on the display unit through a user input unit; searching whether a data included in a first category data exists in the selected portion of the data; and setting up a first category execution item which is related to the first category data, if the first category data is searched in the selected portion of the data, and a mobile terminal using the same.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method for executing a menu in a mobile terminal, the method comprising:
displaying data on a display unit of the mobile terminal; selecting at least a portion of the displayed data through a user input unit; searching the selected at least a portion of the displayed data to determine whether first category data exists; and displaying a first category execution item on the first display unit related to the first category data when it is determined that the first category data exists.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first category data comprises a predetermined character string.

3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising
displaying a cursor block over the determined first category data of the displayed data.

         4 . The method of  claim 3 , further comprising;
automatically selecting the first category data in response to a first category data selection signal received through the user input unit.

5 . The method of claim 3 , wherein displaying the cursor block comprises displaying the cursor block in a color different from the displayed data.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising
automatically using the determined first category data to execute a first category execution item when the first category execution item is selected.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first category data comprises web data, electronic book (e-book) data, image data, or text data.

8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
searching the selected at least a portion of the displayed data to determine whether second category data exists.

9 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:
displaying a second category execution item on the display unit related to the second category data when it is determined that the second category data exists.

10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the second category execution item is a phone number menu comprising a call function, a text message function, a contact list function, or a storage function.

11 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the second category execution item is a search word menu comprising a schedule function, a message function, a copy function, and a search function.

12 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the second category execution item is an address data menu comprising a contact list function, an area search function, or a memo function.

13 . The method of claim 1 , wherein searching the selected at least a portion of the displayed data comprises analyzing the selected at least a portion of the displayed data to identify phone number data, search word data or address data.

14 . The method claim 13 , wherein analyzing the selected at least a portion of the displayed data comprises comparing the selected at least a portion of the displayed data with an external database to determine whether the phone number data, search word data or address data exist.

15 . A method for executing a menu in a mobile terminal, the method comprising:
displaying data in a display unit of the mobile terminal; selecting at least a portion of the displayed data; searching the selected at least a portion of the displayed data to determine whether first and second category data exist; displaying a first category execution item on the display unit related to the first category data when it is determined that only the first category data exists; and displaying a second category execution item on the display unit related to the second category data when it is determined that the first and second category data exist.

         16 . The method of claim 15 ,
wherein the first category data is phone number data, the second category data is image data, and the second category execution item is a multimedia text message menu.

17 . The method of the claim 15 , wherein the first category data is distinguishable from the second category data when the at least a portion of the displayed data is selected.

         18 . A mobile terminal comprising:
a display unit configured to display data; a user input unit configured to receive an input to select a portion of the data displayed on the display unit; and a controller configured to search the selected portion of the displayed data to determine whether first category data exists and control the display unit to display a first category execution item related to the first category data when it is determined that the first category data exists.

19 . The mobile terminal of the claim 18 , wherein the first category data comprises a predetermined character string.

20 . The mobile terminal of the claim 18 , wherein the controller controls the display unit to display a cursor block over the determined first category data of the displayed data.

21 . The mobile terminal of the claim 20 , wherein the controller automatically selects the first category data in response to a first category data selection signal received through the user input unit.

22 . The mobile terminal of the claim 20 , wherein the controller controls the display unit to display the cursor block in a color different from the displayed data.

23 . The mobile terminal of the claim 18 , wherein the controller automatically uses the determined first category data to execute a first category execution item when the first category execution item is selected.

24 . The mobile terminal of the claim 18 , wherein the first category data is web data, electronic book (e-book) data, image data, or text data.

25 . The mobile terminal of the claim 18 , wherein the controller controls the display unit to display the first category data to be distinguishable from the second category data when the at least a portion of the displayed data is selected.

26 . The mobile terminal of the claim 25 , wherein the controller controls the display unit to display the first category data to be distinguishable from the second category data according to color when the at least a portion of the displayed data is selected.
