Abstract

Polyurethane-based polymer compositions that include diacetylene segments are provided.

1 . A method of preparing a polyurethane-based polydiacetylene-containing polymer comprising:
 providing an isocyanate-reactive component;   providing a diacetylene-containing isocyanate-reactive component;   providing an isocyanate-functional component;   providing a reactive emulsifying compound;   optionally providing a catalyst;   allowing the isocyanate-reactive component, the diacetylene-containing component, the isocyanate-functional component, the reactive emulsifying compound, and the optional catalyst to react to form a diacetylene-containing polyurethane prepolymer; and   chain extending the prepolymer.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising dispersing the polyurethane prepolymer in a dispersing medium. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 2 , further comprising coating and drying the dispersing medium to form a coating of the polyurethane-based diacetylene-containing polymer. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 3 , further comprising the step of irradiating the polyurethane-based diacetylene-containing polymer with actinic radiation. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the isocyanate-reactive component comprises at least one polyoxyalkylene polyol. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the isocyanate-functional component comprises a diisocyanate.
