System and method for displaying content on a television in standby mode

Abstract

The present invention relates to a system for displaying content on a television in standby mode, comprising a storage for storing face data of one or more users and for storing preference data associated to the face data, said preference data indicating preferences of the user, a display for displaying content, a standby indicator for indicating that the television is in standby mode, wherein in case that the television is in standby mode activating a front camera for capturing an image of a user, and activating a recommendation device for searching the attribute data of content currently available and for selecting in case that the captured image corresponds to one of the store face data at least one content to be displayed having attribute data matching the associated stored preference data. The present invention further relates to a method for displaying content on a television in standby mode.

1 . System for displaying content on a television in standby mode, comprising
 a storage for storing face data of one or more users and for storing preference data associated to the face data, said preference data indicating preferences of the user,   a display for displaying content,   a standby indicator for indicating that the television is in standby mode,   wherein in case that the television is in standby mode activating a front camera for capturing an image of a user, and activating a recommendation device for searching the attribute data of content currently available and for selecting in case that the captured image corresponds to one of the store face data at least one content to be displayed having attribute data matching the associated stored preference data.   
     
     
         2 . System according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein said attribute data describe features of the content and preferably comprise metadata of said content.   
     
     
         3 . System according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein said attribute data comprise a content ID, a title, at least one keyword, a time and/or date indicating creation or change of content and location data indicating the location from which the content can be retrieved.   
     
     
         4 . System according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein said preference data comprise source data indicating a favorite source from which the content should be retrieved and/or for indicating a type of content to be displayed and favorite keywords.   
     
     
         5 . Television comprising a system according to any of the preceding claims. 
     
     
         6 . Method for displaying content on a television in standby mode, comprising the steps of
 storing face data of one or more users and for storing preference data associated to the face data, said preference data indicating preferences of the user,   displaying content,   indicating that the television is in standby mode,   wherein in case that the television is in standby mode activating a front camera for capturing an image of a user, and activating a recommendation device for searching the attribute data of content currently available and for selecting in case that the captured image corresponds to one of the store face data at least one content to be displayed having attribute data matching the associated stored preference data.   
     
     
         7 . Method according to  claim 6 , comprising the steps of
 capturing and image of the environment of the system,   inverting the captured image and   displaying the inverted image on the display thereby displaying a mirror of the environment.   
     
     
         8 . Method according to  claim 6 , comprising the steps of
 retrieving a picture of the wall next to the system and displaying the retrieved image on the display.   
     
     
         9 . Method according to  claim 8 , wherein the step of retrieving includes retrieving a stored wall image from the storage or capturing an image from the wall by a back camera or by turning the front camera. 
     
     
         10 . Method according to  claim 6 , comprising the steps of selecting content to be displayed based on favorite keywords within the preference data, based on the color of the clothes of the user and/or based on the actual date and/or time. 
     
     
         11 . Method according to  claim 6 , comprising the step of sequentially displaying two or more contents matching the preference data. 
     
     
         12 . Method according to  claim 6 , comprising the step of after predefined time intervals capturing an image of the environment of the system and checking whether a new user is present. 
     
     
         13 . Method according to  claim 12 , comprising the step of changing the displayed content dependent on the preference data of the new user if the previous user is not present anymore. 
     
     
         14 . Method according to  claim 6 , comprising the step of additionally selecting sound to be played depending on the preference data of the user and/or based on the attribute data of the content. 
     
     
         15 . System for displaying content on a television in stand-by mode, comprising
 means for storing face data of one or more users and for storing preference data associated to the face data, said preference data indicating preferences of the user,   means for displaying content,   means for indicating that the television is in standby mode,   wherein in case that the television is in standby mode activating a front camera for capturing an image of a user, and activating a recommendation device for searching the attribute data of content currently available and for selecting in case that the captured image corresponds to one of the store face data at least one content to be displayed having attribute data ( 300 ) matching the associated stored preference data.   
     
     
         16 . A computer program product stored on a computer readable medium which causes a computer to perform the steps of
 storing face data of one or more users and for storing preference data associated to the face data, said preference data indicating preferences of the user,   displaying content,   indicating that the television is in standby mode,   wherein in case that the television is in standby mode activating a front camera for capturing an image of a user, and activating a recommendation device for searching the attribute data of content currently available and for selecting in case that the captured image corresponds to one of the store face data at least one content to be displayed having attribute data matching the associated stored preference data.   
     
     
         17 . Computer readable storage medium comprising a computer program product according to  claim 16 .
