Abstract
The present invention relates to ceramic tiles for armor.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . Ceramic tiles for armor wherein said tiles present passing channels distributed in the body of said tile.
. Tiles according to claim 1 wherein said channels are holes directly manufactured in the body of the tile or are hole cylinders, in ceramic or other materials inserted in the tile body.
. Tiles according to claim 2 wherein said channels are perpendicular to the tile surfaces or are inclined in their respect.
. Tiles according to claim 1 wherein said channels have an average internal diameter comprised between 0.5 and 5 mm.
. Tiles according to claim 4 wherein said channels have rectangular, conic or biconic section.
. Tiles according to claim 5 wherein the internal surface of the channels is functionalised with materials having acoustic impedence different from that of the ceramic matrix.
. Tiles according to claim 6 wherein said materials are chosen among organic polymers, ceramic materials as: alumina, zirconia, boron carbide or silicon carbide, silicon nitride, silica or mixture thereof, metals as copper, iron, steel, and wolfram.
. Tiles according to claim 1 made of: aluminium oxide, boron carbide, silicon carbide, glass-ceramics, titanium diboride or other similar products or their mixture.
. Process for the manufacture of tiles according to claim 1 wherein the channels are obtained by cold pressing in moulds or by extrusions and the possible functionalisation is performed during the manufacturing of the ballistic panel or as an intermediate phase after the manufacturing of the ceramic piece.
. Armor comprising ceramic tiles according to claim 1 .
. Armor comprising ceramic tiles according to claim 2 .
. Armor comprising ceramic tiles according to claim 3 .
. Armor comprising ceramic tiles according to claim 4 .
. Armor comprising ceramic tiles according to claim 5 .
. Armor comprising ceramic tiles according to claim 6 .
. Armor comprising ceramic tiles according to claim 7 .
. Armor comprising ceramic tiles according to claim 8 .
