Emulsifier Mixture Containing Fatty Alcohols, Ethoxylated Fatty Alcohols and Oil or Wax Components

Abstract

A cosmetic composition is provided consisting of (1) an emulsifier consisting of (a) about 0.002% to about 12% of one or more fatty alcohols, based on the cosmetic composition, (b) about 0.6% to about 19.4% of one or more ethoxylated fatty alcohols, (c) about 0.002% to about 4.0% of a component selected from the group consisting of dialkyl ethers, dialkylene ethers, dialkyl carbonates, dialkylene carbonates and mixtures thereof; and (2) one or more cosmetic components selected from the group consisting of fats, oils, waxes, humectants, hydrotropes, solubilizers, inflammation inhibitors, active principles, thickeners, plant extracts, anionic surfactants, cationic surfactants, amphoteric surfactants, zwitterionic surfactants, cationic polymers, silicones, superfatting agents, stabilizers, biogenic agents, glycerol, preservatives, dyes, perfumes, antiperspirant actives, UV protection filters and water. In another embodiment, the emulsifier component (1) also consists of (d) about 0.002% to about 2.0% of one or more partial glycerides.

1 . A cosmetic composition consisting of:
 (1) an emulsifier, wherein the components of said emulsifier consist of:
 (a) from about 0.002% to about 12%, by weight based on the cosmetic composition, of one or more fatty alcohols; 
 (b) from about 0.6% to about 19.4%, by weight based on the cosmetic composition, of one or more ethoxylated fatty alcohols; and 
 (c) from about 0.002% to about 4.0%, by weight based on the cosmetic composition, of a component selected from the group consisting of dialkyl ethers, dialkenyl ethers, dialkyl carbonates, dialkenyl carbonates and mixtures thereof; and 
   (2) one or more components selected from the group consisting of fats, oils, waxes, humectants, hydrotropes, solubilizers, inflammation inhibitors, active principles, thickeners, plant extracts, anionic surfactants, cationic surfactants, amphoteric surfactants, zwitterionic surfactants, cationic polymers, silicones, superfatting agents, stabilizers, biogenic agents, glycerol, preservatives, dyes, perfumes, antiperspirant actives, UV protection filters and water.   
     
     
         2 . The cosmetic composition of  claim 1 , wherein component (2) is selected from the group consisting of antiperspirant actives, UV protection filters, water and mixtures thereof. 
     
     
         3 . The cosmetic composition of  claim 1 , wherein (a) is selected from the group consisting of C 12-24 -fatty alcohols. 
     
     
         4 . The cosmetic composition of  claim 1 , wherein (b) is a mixture of at least one ethoxylated C 12-24 -fatty alcohol having from 1 to 5 moles of ethylene oxide and at least one ethoxylated C 12-24 -fatty alcohol having from 6 to 35 moles of ethylene oxide. 
     
     
         5 . The cosmetic composition of  claim 1 , wherein (b) is a mixture of at least one ethoxylated C 12-24 -fatty alcohol having from 1 to 5 moles of ethylene oxide and at least one ethoxylated C 12-24 -fatty alcohol having from 6 to 16 moles of ethylene oxide, and at least one ethoxylated C 12-24- fatty alcohol having from 18 to 35 moles of ethylene oxide. 
     
     
         6 . The cosmetic composition of  claim 1 , wherein (c) is selected from the group consisting of C 6-32 -dialkyl ethers, C 6-32 -dialkenyl ethers, and mixtures thereof. 
     
     
         7 . The cosmetic composition of  claim 1 , wherein said composition has a viscosity of from about 100 to 20,000 mPa·s at 23° C. 
     
     
         8 . The cosmetic composition of  claim 1 , wherein said composition has a viscosity of from about 20 to 800 Pa·s at 23° C. 
     
     
         9 . A cosmetic composition consisting of:
 (1) an emulsifier, wherein the components of said emulsifier consist of:
 (a) from about 0.002% to about 12%, by weight based on the cosmetic composition, of one or more fatty alcohols; 
 (b) from about 0.6% to about 19.4%, by weight based on the cosmetic composition, of one or more ethoxylated fatty alcohols; 
 (c) from about 0.002% to about 4.0%, by weight based on the cosmetic composition, of a component selected from the group consisting of dialkyl ethers, dialkenyl ethers, dialkyl carbonates, dialkenyl carbonates and mixtures thereof; and 
 (d) from about 0.002% to about 2.0%, by weight based on the cosmetic composition, of one or more partial glycerides; and 
   (2) one or more components selected from the group consisting of fats, oils, waxes, humectants, hydrotropes, solubilizers, inflammation inhibitors, active principles, thickeners, plant extracts, anionic surfactants, cationic surfactants, amphoteric surfactants, zwitterionic surfactants, cationic polymers, silicones, superfatting agents, stabilizers, biogenic agents, glycerol, preservatives, dyes, perfumes, antiperspirant actives, UV protection filters and water.   
     
     
         10 . The cosmetic composition of  claim 9 , wherein said one or more partial glycerides are selected from the group consisting of C 12-18 -partial glycerides. 
     
     
         11 . The cosmetic composition of  claim 9 , wherein component (2) is selected from the group consisting of antiperspirant actives, UV protection filters, water and mixtures thereof. 
     
     
         12 . The cosmetic composition of  claim 9 , wherein (a) is selected from the group consisting of C 12-24 -fatty alcohols. 
     
     
         13 . The cosmetic composition of  claim 9 , wherein (b) is a mixture of at least one ethoxylated C 12-24 -fatty alcohol having from 1 to 5 moles of ethylene oxide and at least one ethoxylated C 12-24 -fatty alcohol having from 6 to 35 moles of ethylene oxide. 
     
     
         14 . The cosmetic composition of  claim 9 , wherein (b) is a mixture of at least one ethoxylated C 12-24 -fatty alcohol having from 1 to 5 moles of ethylene oxide and at least one ethoxylated C 12-24 -fatty alcohol having from 6 to 16 moles of ethylene oxide, and at least one ethoxylated C 12-24 -fatty alcohol having from 18 to 35 moles of ethylene oxide. 
     
     
         15 . The cosmetic composition of  claim 9 , wherein (c) is selected from the group consisting of C 6-32 -dialkyl ethers, C 6-32 -dialkenyl ethers, and mixtures thereof. 
     
     
         16 . The cosmetic composition of  claim 9 , wherein said composition has a viscosity of from about 100 to 20,000 mPa·s at 23° C. 
     
     
         17 . The cosmetic composition of  claim 9 , wherein said composition has a viscosity of from about 20 to 800 Pa·s at 23° C.
