Abstract

A manually operated sewing machine device having a square needle feed and jump foot system, capable of using thread sizes 69 through 346, inclusive, and standard 328 System needles ranging in size from 140 (#22) to 230 (#26). The machine will sew material from light fabric to heavy materials such as approximately ¾ inch thick leather, canvas, and nylon webbing, featuring a hand crank or hand wheel capable of being connected to and driven by a motor. The synchronized motion of the needle, jump foot, and a shuttle hook is accomplished by use of three (3) fixed cams and a rack and pinion drive for the shuttle hook.

1 . A sewing machine device comprising:
 a square needle feed and jump foot system, with an adjustable sliding arm and shuttle hook race assembly to permit a variable work area from the needle to the inner wall.   
     
     
         2 . The device described in  claim 1  in which the metal/material is steel, and the needle is a square needle capable of using thread sizes 69 through 346, inclusive, and standard 328 System needles ranging in size from 140 (#22) to 230 (#26), and which will enable sewing from light material such as cloth or artificial fabric to approximately ¾ inch thick leather, which device is manually operated. 
     
     
         3 . The device described in  claim 1 , with a pressure foot and shuttle hook and a double take-up of thread. 
     
     
         4 . The device described in  claim 1 , with a needle bar positioning cam and needle bar drive cam with linkage, with the needle bar frame driven by the cam. 
     
     
         5 . The device described in  claim 1 , with pressure foot lift adjustment bolt and push rod, tensioning spring, and lift lock lever wherein the tensioning spring retains the lift lock lever against the push rod in a position established by the adjustment of the pressure foot lift adjustment bolt and maintains contact between the lower end of the push rod and the jump foot cam.
