Abstract

A system and method for generating a service interface definition for a data source from an application definition is provided. The system and method includes: a component processor for examining components forming a component based application, which include a screen component having screen definitions, to identify a screen control mapping identifying a transition between a source screen and a target screen. The system and method includes a service interface generation engine for generating a Web service definition for a Web service interface of a backend server of a data source, based on an operation definition describing an action supported by the data source. The operation definition is constructed based on the identified transition.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A system for generating a service interface definition for a data source from an application definition, comprising:
a component processor for identifying a transition between a source screen and a target screen, based on an input having a platform specific screen component for visualization of a data structure, the platform specific screen forming a component based application; and an interface generation engine for generating a Web service definition for a Web service interface of a data source, including:
a module for constructing at least one message definition based on a control mapping identified in the source screen, the target screen or a combination thereof; and
a module for constructing an operation definition describing an action supported by the data source, for the transition, based on the at least one message definition.

2 . The system as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the at least one message definition comprises a first message definition and a second message definition identified in the source screen and the target screen, respectively, the first message definition and the second message definition being assigned as message definitions to the operation definition.

3 . The system as claimed in claim 1 , comprising:
a module for extracting the control mapping from the screen component.

4 . The system as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the interface generation engine is configured for coordinating the processing of control mappings identified in a pluriaty of platform specific screen components.

5 . The system as claimed in claim 1 , wherein comprising:
a module for constructing a data definition matching the message definition based on the input having the screen component and a data component, the screen component and the data component forming the component based application.

6 . The system as claimed in claim 5 , wherein the data definition module is configured for processing complex type ones of the data structure.

7 . The system as claimed in claim 1 , comprising:
a module for constructing a binding definition for inclusion in the generated service interface.

8 . The system as claimed in claim 1 , wherein a first definition language expressing the screen component is the same as a second definition language expressing a message definition of the operation definition.

9 . A method for generating a service interface definition for a data source from an application definition, comprising:
Identifying, by a component processor, a transition between a source screen and a target screen, based on an input having a platform specific screen component for visualization of a data structure, the platform specific screen forming a component based application; and generating a Web service definition for a Web service interface of a data source, including:
 constructing at least one message definition based on a control mapping identified in the source screen, the target screen or combination thereof;
constructing an operation definition describing an action supported by the data source, for the transition, based on the at least one message definition.

10 . The method as claimed in claim 9 , wherein the at least one message definition comprises a first message definition and a second message definition associating with the source screen and the target screen, respectively, the method comprising:
assigning the first message definition and the second message definition as message definitions to the operation definition.

11 . The method as claimed in claim 9 , comprising:
extracting the control mapping from the screen component.

12 . The method as claimed in claim 9 , comprising:
coordinating the processing of a plurality of control mappings identified from a plurality of screen components.

13 . The method as claimed in claim 9 , comprising:
constructing a data definition matching the message definition based on the input having the screen component and a data component, the screen component and the data component forming the component based application.

14 . The method as claimed in claim 13 , comprising:
processing complex type ones of the data structure

15 . The method as claimed in claim 9 , comprising:
generating a binding definition for inclusion in the generated service interface.

16 . A computer program medium storing computer executable codes for generating a service interface definition for a data source from an application definition, comprising:
code for Identifying, by a component processor, a transition between a source screen and a target screen, based on an input having a platform specific screen component for visualization of a data structure, the platform specific screen forming a component based application; and code for generating a Web service definition for a Web service interface of a data source, including:
code for constructing at least one message definition based on a control mapping identified in the source screen, the target screen or combination thereof; and
code for constructing an operation definition describing an action supported by the data source, for the transition, based on the at least one message definition.
