Abstract

A bedding product including an upper surface defining a sleeping position, a plurality of capsules, each including a phase change material, a first layer including latex foam and the plurality of capsules distributed throughout the latex foam, at least one second layer adjacent below the first layer, and wherein the first layer is less than about 2 inches below the upper surface.

1 . A bedding product, comprising:
 an upper surface defining a sleeping position;   a plurality of capsules, each comprising a phase change material;   a first layer comprising latex foam and said plurality of capsules distributed throughout the latex foam; wherein said first layer has a thickness greater than about 0.4 inches   at least one second layer adjacent below said first layer; and   wherein said first layer is less than about 2 inches below said upper surface.   
     
     
         2 . The bedding product according to  claim 1 , wherein said first layer is less than about 0.5 inches below said upper surface. 
     
     
         3 . The bedding product according to  claim 1 , wherein said first layer comprises at least about 8 parts per hundred rubber (phr) of said capsules. 
     
     
         4 . The bedding product according to  claim 3 , wherein said first layer comprises about 8 to about 20 phr of said capsules. 
     
     
         5 . The bedding product according to  claim 1 , wherein the phase change material changes phase at about 78.5 degrees (F.). 
     
     
         6 . The bedding product according to  claim 1 , wherein said plurality of capsules are uniformly distributed throughout said first layer. 
     
     
         7 . The bedding product according to  claim 1 , wherein said second layer consists only of latex foam, and wherein said first and second layers are a single continuous layer. 
     
     
         8 . The bedding product according to  claim 1 , wherein the thickness is between about 0.75 inches and about 3 inches. 
     
     
         9 . The bedding product according to  claim 1 , wherein each of said capsules has a particle size of about 3 micron to about 15 microns. 
     
     
         10 . The bedding product according to  claim 10 , wherein the particle size is about 3 microns to about 5 microns. 
     
     
         11 . The bedding product according to  claim 1 , wherein said bedding product is a mattress. 
     
     
         12 . The bedding product according to  claim 1 , wherein said bedding product is a pillow. 
     
     
         13 . The bedding product according to  claim 1 , wherein the phase change material is a wax. 
     
     
         14 . The bedding product according to  claim 1 , wherein said first layer is quilted between a ticking layer and said second layer. 
     
     
         15 . The bedding product according to  claim 1 , wherein said latex foam includes one or more rubber materials, at least one soap, and a curing agent. 
     
     
         16 . The bedding product according to  claim 1 , wherein said plurality of capsules are distributed throughout a top portion of said first layer and the bottom portion of said first layer includes only latex foam. 
     
     
         17 . A mattress, comprising:
 an upper surface defining a sleeping position;   a plurality of capsules, each comprising a phase change material;   a first layer consisting of latex foam and about 8 to about 20 phr of said capsules distributed throughout the latex foam, wherein said first layer has a thickness between about 0.75 inches and about 3 inches;   at least one second layer adjacent below said first layer; and   wherein said first layer is less than about 0.5 inches below said upper surface.   
     
     
         18 . The mattress according to  claim 17 , wherein each of said capsules has a particle size of about 3 micron to about 15 microns. 
     
     
         19 . The mattress according to  claim 17 , wherein the phase change material is a wax, and wherein the phase change material changes phase at about 78.5 degrees (F.). 
     
     
         20 . The mattress according to  claim 17 , wherein said latex foam includes one or more rubber materials, at least one soap, and a curing agent. 
     
     
         21 . The mattress according to  claim 17 , wherein said plurality of capsules are uniformly distributed throughout said first layer. 
     
     
         22 . The mattress according to  claim 17 , wherein said plurality of capsules are distributed throughout a top portion of said first layer and the bottom portion of said first layer includes only latex foam.
