Abstract

In the strapping machine according to the invention, in which a strap guiding lance is inserted under the packaged goods through a penetrating opening provided in a pallet in order to create a circumferential strap channel into which a strap can be shot to produce a strapping, a particularly strong, but also lightweight design of the strap guiding lance is proposed, allowing rapid and precise insertion of the lance.

A strapping machine for strapping articles with a strapping band, said strapping machine including a band guiding hoop surrounding an article to be strapped in an approximately portal-like manner at two upright sides and an upper side, said strapping machine also including a band guiding lance which can be displaced under a bottom side of the article, wherein the band guiding hoop and the band guiding lance form a band guiding channel for the strapping band surrounding the article in its displaced position under the article, said band guiding channel being covered by a cover at its inner sides facing the article allowing an exit of the strapping band from the band guiding channel in the direction towards the article, the band guiding lance consisting of a carrier profile, said carrier profile being approximately U-shaped in its cross section, which said band guiding lance is being open towards the article, said band guiding lance being provided with a stiffening angle extending over the length of the band channel section at the band guiding lance, which said stiffening angle is being arranged over a partial width of the carrier profile between a first side leg and the lower connection web of the carrier profile, wherein the cover for the band channel section of the band guiding lance is arranged at the upright side wall of the stiffening angle and covers the upper side of the stiffening angle running parallel to the connection web with a distance for forming the band channel section. 
     
     
         2 . The strapping machine according to  claim 1 , wherein the lower connection web of the carrier profile is provided with apertures in its partial region lying laterally next to the stiffening angle, said apertures are distributed along the length of the carrier profile. 
     
     
         3 . The strapping machine according to  claim 1  or  2 , wherein the cover of the band channel section of the band guiding lance is formed by flap elements arranged in a flexible manner at the carrier profile and/or at the stiffening angle. 
     
     
         4 . The strapping machine according to  claim 3 , wherein the flap elements abut the upright side wall of the stiffening angle with a first leg in their closed position and cover the upper side of the stiffening angle with a second leg extending at a right angle to the first leg while forming a spacing forming the band channel section. 
     
     
         5 . The strapping machine according to  claim 3 , wherein the flap elements are held in their closed position by means of spring elements. 
     
     
         6 . The strapping machine according to  claim 5 , wherein the spring elements consist of compression springs arranged between the flap elements and the second side leg of the carrier profile. 
     
     
         7 . The strapping machine according to  claim 6 , wherein guide pins for the compression springs arranged transversely to the side legs, traversing the flap elements with tolerance. 
     
     
         8 . The strapping machine according to  claim 1  or  2 , wherein the band guiding lance is provided with a band deflection element at an end region of the band channel section formed thereby for connection to the band guiding hoop. 
     
     
         9 . The strapping machine according to  claim 8 , wherein the band deflection element is exchangeable. 
     
     
         10 . A strapping machine for strapping an article with a strapping band, said strapping machine including a band guiding hoop that at least partially surrounds an article to be strapped and a band guiding lance that can be displaced under a bottom side of the article, said band guiding lance movable between a displace position wherein at least a portion of said band guiding lance moves at least partially under the bottom side of the article and non-displaced positioned wherein said band guiding lance is not positioned under the bottom side of the article, said the band guiding hoop and said band guiding lance at least partially forming a band guiding channel for said strapping band when said band guiding channel is in said displaced position, said band guiding lance including two legs and a carrier web therebetween that forms a carrier profile having a generally U-shaped cross-section, said band guiding lance being open towards the bottom side of the article when in said displaced position, said band guiding lance including a stiffening angle that at least partially extends along a longitudinal length of said band guiding lance. 
     
     
         11 . The strapping machine as defined in  claim 10 , wherein said stiffening angle in said band guiding lance is arranged over only a partial width of said carrier profile between said two legs. 
     
     
         12 . The strapping machine as defined in  claim 10  or  11 , wherein said band guiding lance includes a cover positioned at least partially over said stiffening angle, said cover extending along a longitudinal length of said band guiding lance. 
     
     
         13 . The strapping machine as defined in  claim 12 , wherein said band guiding lance includes a plurality of said cover positioned at least partially over said stiffening angle and extending along a longitudinal length of said band guiding lance. 
     
     
         14 . The strapping machine as defined in  claim 12 , wherein said cover is at least partially mounted to a portion of said stiffening angle, said cover including a flexible section. 
     
     
         15 . The strapping machine as defined in  claim 13 , wherein said cover is at least partially mounted to a portion of said stiffening angle, said cover including a flexible section. 
     
     
         16 . The strapping machine as defined in  claim 12 , wherein said stiffening angle includes a top face and a side leg, said cover space above said top face of said stiffening angle. 
     
     
         17 . The strapping machine as defined in  claim 15 , wherein said stiffening angle includes a top face and a side leg, said cover space above said top face of said stiffening angle. 
     
     
         18 . The strapping machine as defined in  claim 12 , including a compression spring that engages said cover. 
     
     
         19 . The strapping machine as defined in  claim 17 , including a compression spring that engages said cover. 
     
     
         20 . The strapping machine as defined in  claim 10  or  11 , wherein said band guiding lance includes a plurality of apertures in said connection web. 
     
     
         21 . The strapping machine as defined in  claim 19 , wherein said band guiding lance includes a plurality of apertures in said connection web.
