Abstract

A non-metal window muntin formed from plastic or wood is described for use in hermetically sealed insulated glass windows. The process for forming the muntin includes machining polystyrene sheets which are painted with a latex pain and baked prior to use between sealed glass of the window.

 a one-piece polymeric muntin with a solid cross-section.

       35 . The muntin according to  claim 34  wherein the coating is a latex paint.

 the muntin is conformed to a pane of glass.

 the muntin is placed in between a first pane of glass a second pane of glass.

 the space between the first pane of glass and the second pane of glass containing the muntin are hermetically sealed.   
   
   
       40 . A muntin for use in a window comprising:
 a one-piece polymeric muntin with a solid cross-section and a curvilinear portion.   
   
   
       41 . The muntin accordingly to  claim 40  wherein the muntin has substantially linear portions. 
   
   
       42 . The muntin according to  claim 40  further comprising:
 a coating on all sides of the muntin.   
   
   
       43 . The muntin accordingly to  claim 42  wherein the coating is a paint. 
   
   
       44 . The muntin according to  claim 42  wherein the coating is a latex paint. 
   
   
       45 . The muntin according to  claim 42  wherein the coating is a heat cured layer. 
   
   
       46 . The muntin according to  claim 42  further comprising:
 the muntin is conformed to a pane of glass.   
   
   
       47 . The muntin according to  claim 42  further comprising:
 the muntin is placed in between a first pane of glass a second pane of glass.

 the space between the first pane of glass and the second pane of glass containing the muntin are hermetically sealed.   
   
   
       49 . A muntin comprising:
 a one-piece polymeric muntin with a solid cross-section and at least three terminal ends.   
   
   
       50 . A muntin according to  claim 49  wherein the muntin has a curvilinear portion and a substantially linear portion.

 a coating on all sides of the muntin.   
   
   
       52 . The muntin accordingly to  claim 51  wherein the coating is a paint.
