Abstract

The invention is directed to LDCAM as a purified and isolated protein, the DNA encoding the LDCAM, host cells transfected with cDNAs encoding LDCAM, processes for preparing LDCAM polypeptides and compositions and methods for treating utilizing LDCAM polypeptides.

1 . A method of treating cancer in a patient in need thereof, comprising administering a composition comprising a polypeptide comprising amino acids 39-374 of SEQ ID NO:2 to said patient, wherein said polypeptide is conjugated to a therapeutic agent. 
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the cancer is ovarian cancer. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the cancer is B-cell large cell lymphoma (LCL). 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said polypeptide comprising amino acids 39-374 of SEQ ID NO:2 is covalently linked to an immunoglobulin Fc domain. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said therapeutic agent is a radionuclide. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 5 , wherein the cancer is ovarian cancer. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 5 , wherein the cancer is B-cell large cell lymphoma (LCL). 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 5 , wherein polypeptide comprising amino acids 39-374 of
 SEQ ID NO:2 is covalently linked to an immunoglobulin Fc domain.   
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said therapeutic agent is a toxin. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein the cancer is ovarian cancer. 
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein the cancer is B-cell large cell lymphoma (LCL). 
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein polypeptide comprising amino acids 39-374 of SEQ ID NO:2 is covalently linked to an immunoglobulin Fc domain. 
     
     
         13 . A method of increasing the number of natural killer cells in a patient having cancer, comprising administering a composition comprising a polypeptide comprising amino acids 39-374 of SEQ ID NO:2 to said patient. 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 13 , wherein the cancer is ovarian cancer. 
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 13 , wherein the cancer is B-cell large cell lymphoma (LCL). 
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 13 , wherein polypeptide comprising amino acids 39-374 of SEQ ID NO:2 is covalently linked to an immunoglobulin Fc domain.
