Radioterminal system servers and methods

Abstract

A radioterminal system includes a server that contains a listing of satellite spot beams and registration information for radioterminals. The listing of satellite spot beams includes an association of base stations with each satellite spot beam of the listing of satellite spot beams. Related methods are also provided.

1 . A radioterminal system comprising:
 a server that comprises a listing of satellite spot-beams and registration information for a plurality of radioterminals;   wherein the listing of satellite spot-beams comprises an association of base stations with each satellite spot-beam of the listing of satellite spot-beams.   
     
     
         2 . A system according to  claim 1  wherein the registration information comprises:
 a listing of base stations and radioterminals that are able to communicate therewith.   
     
     
         3 . A system according to  claim 2  wherein the server is configured to register the radioterminals with the listing of base stations and radioterminals. 
     
     
         4 . A system according to  claim 2  wherein the server is configured to register a radioterminal with the listing of base stations and radioterminals following power-on of the radioterminal and/or following a movement of the radioterminal. 
     
     
         5 . A system according to  claim 2  wherein the listing of base stations and radioterminals further comprises an association of likely destination radioterminals with a source radioterminal. 
     
     
         6 . A system according to  claim 5  wherein the listing of base stations and radioterminals further comprises an association of base stations with a satellite spot beam. 
     
     
         7 . A radioterminal system operating method comprising:
 storing in a server a listing of satellite spot-beams and registration information for a plurality of radioterminals;   wherein the listing of satellite spot-beams comprises an association of base stations with each satellite spot-beam of the listing of satellite spot-beams.   
     
     
         8 . A method according to  claim 7  wherein the registration information comprises:
 a listing of base stations and radioterminals that are able to communicate therewith.   
     
     
         9 . A method according to  claim 8  further comprising registering the radioterminals with the listing of base stations and radioterminals. 
     
     
         10 . A method according to  claim 8  further comprising registering a radioterminal with the listing of base stations and radioterminals following power-on of the radioterminal and/or following a movement of the radioterminal. 
     
     
         11 . A method according to  claim 8  wherein the listing of base stations and radioterminals further comprises an association of likely destination radioterminals with a source radioterminal. 
     
     
         12 . A method according to  claim 11  wherein the listing of base stations and radioterminals further comprises an association of base stations with a satellite spot beam.
