Thick inner cover multi-layer golf ball
Abstract
A golf ball includes a core having a center and an outer core layer formed from a polyoctenamer. The core has a compression of 70 or less, an outer diameter of 1.38 to 1.387 inches, and a COR of 0.770 to 0.810. An intermediate layer is formed over the core, the intermediate layer having a thickness of 0.015 to 0.07 inches, a hardness of 55 to 70 Shore D, and including a highly-neutralized ionomer. A cover including an inner cover layer and an outer cover layer is formed over the intermediate layer. The outer cover layer has a thickness of 0.02 to 0.04 inches and includes a castable polyurethane having a hardness of 40 to 60 Shore D. A combination of the core and the intermediate layer has a compression of 60 or greater and the golf ball has a COR of 0.805 or greater.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A golf ball comprising: a core comprising a center and an outer core layer comprising polyoctenamer, the core having a compression of 70 or less, an outer diameter of about 1.38 inches to 1.387 inches, and a coefficient of restitution of about 0.770 to 0.810; a cover comprising an inner cover layer and an outer cover layer, the outer cover layer having a thickness of about 0.02 inches to 0.04 inches and comprising a castable polyurethane having a hardness of about 40 to 60 Shore D; and an intermediate layer disposed between the core and the cover, the intermediate layer having a thickness of about 0.015 inches to 0.07 inches, a hardness of about 55 Shore D to 70 Shore D, and comprising a highly-neutralized ionomer; wherein a combination of the core and the intermediate layer has a compression of about 60 or greater and the golf ball has a coefficient of restitution of 0.805 or greater when measured at an incoming velocity of 125 ft/s.
