Abstract
The present invention relates to compositions and methods for treating the nutritional deficiencies observed in patients suffering from renal disease and associated disorders. Specifically, the method involves administering to a renal patient a composition comprising vitamin C, vitamin E, B-complex vitamins, selenium, and zinc.

A composition for supplementing nutritional deficiencies in a patient or person in need thereof, comprising about 60 mg to about 140 mg vitamin C; about 40 IU to about 80 IU vitamin E; about 1.5 mg to about 4.5 mg vitamin B 1 ; about 1 mg to about 3 mg vitamin B 2 ; about 10 mg to about 30 mg vitamin B 3 ; about 5 mg to about 15 mg vitamin B 5 ; about 18 mg to about 42 mg vitamin B 6 ; about 500 μg to about 1500 μg vitamin B 12 ; about 150 μg to about 450 μg biotin; about 3 mg to about 8 mg vitamin B 9 ; about 35 μg to about 105 μg selenium; and about 10 mg to about 30 mg zinc.

A composition for supplementing nutritional deficiencies in a patient or person in need thereof, comprising about 80 mg to about 120 mg vitamin C; about 48 IU to about 72 IU vitamin E; about 2.4 mg to about 3.6 mg vitamin B 1 ; about 1.6 mg to about 2.4 mg vitamin B 2 ; about 16 mg to about 24 mg vitamin B 3 ; about 8 mg to about 12 mg vitamin B 5 ; about 24 mg to about 36 mg vitamin B 6 ; about 800 μg to about 1200 μg vitamin B 12 ; about 240 μg to about 360 μg biotin; about 4.4 mg to about 6.6 mg vitamin B 9 ; about 56 μg to about 84 μg selenium; and about 16 mg to about 24 mg zinc.

A composition for supplementing nutritional deficiencies in a patient or person in need thereof, comprising about 90 mg to about 110 mg vitamin C; about 54 Hi to about 66 IU vitamin E; about 2.7 mg to about 3.3 mg vitamin B 1 ; about 1.8 mg to about 2.2 mg vitamin B 2 ; about 18 mg to about 22 mg vitamin B 3 ; about 9 mg to about 11 mg vitamin B 5 ; about 27 mg to about 33 mg vitamin B 6 ; about 900 μg to about 1100 μg vitamin B 12 ; about 270 μg to about 330 μg biotin; about 4.95 mg to about 6.05 mg vitamin B 9 ; about 63 μg to about 77 μg selenium; and about 18 mg to about 22 mg zinc.
4 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein said composition comprises about 100 mg vitamin C.
5 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein said composition comprises about 60 IU vitamin E.
6 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein said composition comprises about 3 mg vitamin B 1 .
7 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein said composition comprises about 2 mg vitamin B 2 .

17 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein said composition is substantially free of other added vitamins and minerals.
18 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein said composition is administered to said patient daily.
19 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein said composition is administered to said patient orally.
20 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein said composition further comprises a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
21 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein said composition is administered to a patient suffering from kidney disease.
22 . The composition of claim 21 , wherein said kidney disease is end-stage renal disease.
23 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein said composition is administered to a patient suffering from renal insufficiency.
24 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein said composition is administered to patient undergoing dialysis therapy.
25 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein said nutritional deficiencies are a result of dietary restrictions.
26 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein said nutritional deficiencies are a result of a disease state.
27 . The composition of claim 26 , wherein said disease state is kidney disease.
28 . The composition of claim 27 , wherein said kidney disease is end-stage renal disease.
