Erosion control device

Abstract

Methods and apparatus related to an erosion control device for constructing a barrier bag for use in areas where erosion is likely to occur. The erosion control device can include an attachment member allowing the erosion control device to be operably mounted to a skid steer, front-end loader, tractor or similar vehicle for transportation and power. The erosion control device can include a loading box defining a material hopper for holding a filler material. The loading box can further comprise a beater bar assembly for agitating the filler material within the material hopper so as to continually feed an auger assembly within the loading box. The auger assembly transports and compacts the filler material within a filling chute. The compacted filler material exits the filling chute and enters into a barrier bag that is continually deployed from the filling chute.

1 . A device for filling erosion control bags, comprising:
 a loading box including an auger assembly, the auger assembly compacting a filter material within a filling chute, wherein a discharge end of the filling chute defines a flared collar having a tension member for retainably attaching an erosion control bag to the discharge end for receiving the compacted filler material.   
   
   
       2 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the rotatable auger assembly is driven by a drive assembly mounted externally on the loading box. 
   
   
       3 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the loading box includes an implement attachment interface. 
   
   
       4 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the loading box includes a rotatable beater assembly for directing the filler material into the auger assembly. 
   
   
       5 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the auger assembly comprises a first auger portion mounted within the loader box and a second auger portion mounted within the filling chute.
