Abstract

A foldable lighter having a safety mechanism for preventing inadvertent ignition. The foldable lighter comprises a body that has an operating member for igniting the lighter, and a swing-arm pivotally connected to the body by a swing-mount. The locking mechanism comprises an arcuate protrusion on an annular wall of the swing-mount, which interferes with operation of the operating member through a predetermined rotation of the swing-arm.

Claims

2 . The lighter of claim 1 , wherein said lighter is open by moving said swing-arm to an angle of 90° or more in relation to said body.

3 . The lighter of claim 2 , wherein operating member is capable of operating a piezo-electric unit in said body for igniting said lighter when said swing-arm is in an open position.
