Abstract

An edgewise winding apparatus is arranged to produce a coil by winding a wire. The coil includes a plurality of bent portions having equal bending angles and unbent portions each existing between the bent portions. The apparatus includes a holding shaft which will contact with an inner periphery surface of a flat wire and clamp one of the bent portions in a thickness direction of the flat wire and bending jigs which will contact with an outer periphery surface of the flat wire and rotate while pressing the flat wire in cooperation with the holding shaft to bend the flat wire to form the bent portion. The bending jigs are configured to move forward and backward in a lamination direction of the flat wire. The bending jigs are arranged in number equal to the number of bent portions or unbent portions of the coil so that the bending jigs are placed at equal angular intervals around the holding shaft so as to rotate around the holding shaft.

1 . A winding apparatus for producing a coil including a plurality of bent portions having equal bending angles and unbent portions each existing between the bent portions, the apparatus being arranged to wind a wire into a non-circular form by edgewise bending, the apparatus comprising:
 a holding member arranged to make contact with an inner periphery surface of the wire which will form an inner periphery of the coil, wherein the holding member is configured to clamp one of the bent portions of the wire in a direction of thickness of the wire; and   a bending member arranged to make contact with an outer periphery surface of the wire which will form an outer periphery of the coil and rotate around the holding member while holding the wire in cooperation with the holding member to bend the wire to form the bent portion, wherein the bending member is configured to move forward and backward in a direction of lamination of the wire, and the bending member including includes a plurality of bending members placed at equal angular intervals around the holding member so as to be movable around the holding member, the number of bending members being equal to the number of bent portions or unbent portions of one turn of the coil.   
   
   
       2 . The winding apparatus according to  claim 1 , further comprising an anti-vibration member to be placed in contact with part of the inner periphery surface of the wire,
 the anti-vibration member being rotatable in association with winding of the wire to prevent deformation of the coil.   
   
   
       3 . The winding apparatus according to  claim 2 , wherein
 the anti-vibration member includes slant surfaces complying to slant side surfaces of the coil to be produced so that a winding diameter of the coil is gradually decreased, and   the anti-vibration member is arranged to rotate, in sync with winding of the wire, while the anti-vibration member slides forward and backward in a turning direction of the coil in the process of being formed.   
   
   
       4 . The winding apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein
 the bending member includes an angle correcting system for correcting a rotation angle, and   the angle correcting system is arranged to correct the rotation angle of the bending member during edgewise bending of the wire.   
   
   
       5 . The winding apparatus according to  claim 2 , wherein
 the bending member includes an angle correcting system for correcting a rotation angle, and   the angle correcting system is arranged to correct the rotation angle of the bending member during edgewise bending of the wire.   
   
   
       6 . The winding apparatus according to  claim 3 , wherein
 the bending member includes an angle correcting system for correcting a rotation angle, and   the angle correcting system is arranged to correct the rotation angle of the bending member during edgewise bending of the wire.
