Use of Tiliacora Triandra in Cosmetics and Compositions Thereof
Abstract
The present disclosure relates to compositions and methods for treating, preventing and improving the condition and aesthetic appearance of skin, particularly, treating, preventing, ameliorating, reducing and/or eliminating fine lines and/or wrinkles of skin, where the compositions include natural plant constituents which increase expression levels genes, collagen replacement and retention, and cell proliferation of epidermis and dermis associated with the dermatological signs of aging. The compositions of the invention are topically applied to the skin, or are delivered by directed means to a site in need thereof, once daily in an amount effective in improving the condition and aesthetic appearance of skin.
Claims

(a) a Tiliacora triandra Diels plant extract; (b) a cosmetically, dermatologically, pharmaceutically, or physiologically acceptable vehicle.
2 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the plant extract is from a vine of Tiliacora triandra Diels.
3 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the plant extract is present in an amount sufficient to increase fibroblast and keratinocyte proliferation, reduce collagenase activity; increase expression of collagen; or any combination thereof.
4 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the plant extract is present in an amount from about 0.0001 wt % to about 90 wt %, based on the total weight of the composition.
5 . The composition of claim 3 , wherein the plant extract is present in an amount from about 0.01 wt % to about 10 wt %, based on the total weight of the composition.
6 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the plant extract is in an amount sufficient to alleviate the aesthetic appearance of wrinkles, pigment spots, skin sagging, loss of skin elasticity, mottled skin appearance or any combination thereof.
7 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition is in an aerosol spray, cream, emulsion, solid, liquid, dispersion, foam, gel, lotion, mousse, ointment, powder, patch, pomade, solution, pump spray, stick or towelette.
8 . A method of improving the aesthetic appearance of an aging skin in need thereof, comprising topically applying to the skin the composition according to claim 1 in an amount effective to improve the aesthetic appearance of skin.
9 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein aging is due to chronological, hormonal, or environmental effects.

The method according to claim 8 , wherein the improvement in aesthetic appearance is improvement in skin tone, radiance, clarity and/or tautness, skin firmness, plumpness, suppleness, and/or softness, skin texture and/or promotion of skin retexturization and moisturization; appearance of skin contours, hollow cheeks, sunken eyes, restoration of skin luster and/or brightness; replenishment of essential nutrients and/or constituents in the skin decreased by aging and/or menopause; increase in cell proliferation and/or multiplication; increase in cell metabolism decreased by aging and/or menopause;
enhancement of skin thickness; reducing skin sensitivity; and an increase in skin elasticity and/or resiliency, or combinations thereof.
11 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein the skin is sensitive skin.
12 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein the composition is topically applied at least once daily for at least one week.
13 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein the extract is present in an amount about 0.0001 wt % to about 90 wt % based on the total weight of the composition.
14 . The method according to claim 13 , wherein the extract is present in an amount of from about 0.01 wt % to about 10 wt % of the total weight of the composition.
15 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein the Tiliacora triandra Diels plant extract is derived from a vine of Tiliacora triandra Diels plant.
16 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein the improvement of the skin is due to an increase viability of fibroblasts and keratinocytes, reduction in collagenase activity; increase in expression of collagen; or any combination thereof.
17 . The method improving the barrier function and viability of the skin, comprising topically applying to the skin the composition according to claim 1 in an amount effective to increase viability of fibroblasts and keratinocytes, reduce collagenase activity; increase expression of collagen; or any combination thereof.
18 . The method according to claim 17 , wherein the extract is derived from a vine of Tiliacora triandra Diels.
19 . The method according to claim 17 , wherein the plant extract is present in an amount of about 0.0001 wt % to about 90 wt % based on the total weight of the composition.
20 . The method according to claim 19 , wherein the plant extract is present in an amount of about 0.01 wt % to about 10 wt % based on the total weight of the composition.
