Displaying selected image information and a map in an associated manner

Abstract

To make it possible to process or retrieve a recorded image in accordance with the location where the image is recorded and record digital image data together with GPS information when capturing a digital image by a video camera. Moreover, when GPS information cannot be captured, GPS information a certain time before is captured. Furthermore, a system is disclosed which accesses the internet in accordance with the captured GPS information.

       30 . An image and location processing apparatus, comprising:
 storage means constructed to store image information and location information in correlation with the image information;   selecting means constructed to select one of image information stored in the storage means;   reading means constructed to read location information stored in correlation with the selected image information; and   display control means constructed to display the selected image information and a map together in an associated manner in response to said selecting by the selecting means and based on the read location information,   wherein said display control means can switch a wide area map and a detailed map and display either one of the wide area map and the detailed map, and   wherein said display control means controls display of information accessed from the internet based on a keyword on the map.

An image and location processing apparatus according to  claim 30 , wherein said storage means further stores information that was lastly obtained or previously obtained during a predetermined time as substitution location information in correlation with the image information when the location information cannot be obtained. 
   
   
       32 . An image and location processing apparatus according to  claim 31 , wherein the substitution location information is manually input. 
   
   
       33 . An image and location processing apparatus according to  claim 30 , wherein said display control means displays a mark corresponding to the stored location information on the map. 
   
   
       34 . An image and location processing apparatus according to  claim 30 , wherein the internet is accessed by using a location name of the map as the keyword. 
   
   
       35 . A method executed by an image and location processing apparatus, comprising:
 a storage step of storing image information and location information in correlation with the image information;   a selecting step of selecting one of image information stored in the storage step;   a reading step of reading location information stored in correlation with the selected image information; and   a display control step of displaying the selected image information and a map together in an associated manner in response to said selecting by the selecting step and based on the read location information,   wherein said display control step can switch a wide area map and a detailed map and display either one of the wide area map and the detailed map, and   wherein said display control step controls display of information accessed from the internet based on a keyword on the map.

A method according to  claim 35 , wherein said storage step further stores information that was lastly obtained or previously obtained during a predetermined time as substitution location information in correlation with the image information when the location information cannot be obtained.

       40 . A computer readable storage medium on which is stored a control program to be executed by an image and location processing apparatus, the program comprising:
 a storage step of storing image information and location information in correlation with the image information;   a selecting step of selecting one of image information stored in the storage step;   a reading step of reading location information stored in correlation with the selected image information; and   a display control step of displaying the selected image information and a map together in an associated manner in response to said selecting by the selecting step and based on the read location information,   wherein said display control step can switch a wide area map and a detailed map and display either one of the wide area map and the detailed map, and   wherein said display control step controls display of information accessed from the internet based on a keyword on the map.

A computer readable storage medium according to  claim 40 , wherein said storage step further stores information that was lastly obtained or previously obtained during a predetermined time as substitution location information in correlation with the image information when the location information cannot be obtained.
