Abstract

A lens and a light emitting device package formed by introducing surface mount technology (SMI) are disclosed. The lens includes a refractive portion which refracts incident light, and at least one surface mount portion, wherein a portion of the surface mount portion is formed in the refractive portion.

1 . A light emitting device package comprising:
 a substrate;   a light emitting portion disposed on the substrate;   a lens covering over the light emitting portion so as to refract a direction of light emitted from the light emitting portion.   
   
   
       2 . The light emitting device package according to  claim 1 , wherein an upper surface of the light emitting portion is substantially planar. 
   
   
       3 . The light emitting device package according to  claim 1 , wherein an upper surface of the light emitting portion is contacted with the lens. 
   
   
       4 . The light emitting device package according to  claim 1 , wherein an entire lateral surface of the light emitting portion is contacted with the lens. 
   
   
       5 . The light emitting device package according to  claim 1 , wherein the light emitting portion is located at a central portion of the lens. 
   
   
       6 . The light emitting device package according to  claim 1 , wherein the lens has an empty space with a prescribed depth at a central portion of a lower surface of the lens. 
   
   
       7 . The light emitting device package according to  claim 6 , wherein an entire upper surface and a part of a lateral surface of the emitting portion are located in the empty space of the lens. 
   
   
       8 . The light emitting device package according to  claim 1 , wherein an entire upper surface and a part of a lateral surface of the emitting portion are surrounded by the lens. 
   
   
       9 . The light emitting device package according to  claim 1 , wherein an upper surface of the lens is substantially a curved surface. 
   
   
       10 . The light emitting device package according to  claim 1 , wherein a thickness of the lens is decreased from an inward portion corresponding to the light emitting portion to an outward portion. 
   
   
       11 . The light emitting device package according to  claim 1 , wherein a thickness or a height of the lens is different from that of the substrate. 
   
   
       12 . The light emitting device package according to  claim 1 , wherein an entire thickness or a height of the lens is greater than that of the substrate. 
   
   
       13 . The light emitting device package according to  claim 1 , wherein a thickness of the lens is different from that of the light emitting portion. 
   
   
       14 . The light emitting device package according to  claim 1 , wherein a thickness of the lens is greater than that of the substrate. 
   
   
       15 . A light emitting device package comprising:
 a substrate;   a light emitting portion disposed on the substrate;   a lens covering over an upper surface and a part of a lateral surface of the light emitting portion.
