Abstract

A method of measuring a lipid in a specific lipoprotein characterized by using a polycyclic polyoxyalkylene derivative at least in the step of determining the specificity of the measurement of the target lipid.

1 . A method for assaying a lipid contained in a specific lipoprotein, comprising:
 a specificity determining step in which a polycyclic polyoxyalkylene derivative is employed to determine the specificity of an assay for a target lipid.   
   
   
       2 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the specific lipoprotein is HDL, LDL, IDL, VLDL, chylomicron, or a decomposition product thereof, and the target lipid is cholesterol, triglyceride, or phospholipid. 
   
   
       3 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the polycyclic polyoxyalkylene derivative is a nonionic or anionic surfactant having two or more aryl groups. 
   
   
       4 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the polycyclic polyoxyalkylene derivative is a polyoxyalkylene ether-type nonionic surfactant having a polycyclic group, in which a phenyl group is substituted by one to five groups selected from among a phenyl group, a naphthyl group, an alkylphenyl group, a phenylalkyl group, and a styryl group. 
   
   
       5 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the polycyclic polyoxyalkylene derivative is a nonionic surfactant which acts on the specific lipoprotein and has an HLB of 12 to 18, where the specificity of the surfactant to the target lipid does not depend on the HLB of the surfactant but is entirely affected by the number of aryl groups contained in the surfactant. 
   
   
       6 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the polycyclic polyoxyalkylene derivative is a nonionic surfactant which acts on the specific lipoprotein, and has an HLB of 12 to 18, and further, contains two or more aryl groups (exclusive of a surfactant having an HLB of 13 to 15, whose specificity to assay of cholesterol in LDL is affected by a buffer solution). 
   
   
       7 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the target lipid is HDL cholesterol, and the polycyclic polyoxyalkylene derivative is a nonionic surfactant which acts preferentially on HDL and has an HLB of 14.1 to 18. 
   
   
       8 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the target lipid is LDL cholesterol, and the polycyclic polyoxyalkylene derivative is a nonionic surfactant which acts preferentially on lipoproteins other than LDL and has an HLB of 15.1 to 18. 
   
   
       9 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the target lipid is triglyceride contained in the specific lipoprotein, and the polycyclic polyoxyalkylene derivative is a nonionic surfactant which acts preferentially on lipoproteins other than LDL, and has an HLB of 12 to 18, and further contains two or more aryl groups. 
   
   
       10 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the target lipid is triglyceride contained in LDL, and the polycyclic polyoxyalkylene derivative is a nonionic surfactant which acts preferentially on lipoproteins other than LDL, and has an HLB of 12 to 15, and further contains two or more aryl groups. 
   
   
       11 . The method according to  claim 1 , which comprises the step of determining the specificity of an assay for the target lipid, and a step of assaying the target lipid. 
   
   
       12 . The method according to  claim 11 , wherein the target lipid assay step is carried out in the presence of a surfactant which acts on the specific lipoprotein, and a component for controlling the reaction of a target lipid assay reagent. 
   
   
       13 . A method for assaying triglyceride contained in a specific lipoprotein, which method comprising:
 pretreating free glycerol such that the glycerol does not participate in reaction, and   applying lipoprotein lipase to act on a specific lipoprotein,   wherein the lipoprotein lipase is reacted with triglyceride contained in the specific lipoprotein in the presence of a polycyclic polyoxyalkylene derivative having an HLB of 12 to 18.   
   
   
       14 . A method for assaying triglyceride contained in a specific lipoprotein, which method comprising:
 pretreating free glycerol such that the glycerol does not participate in reaction, and   applying lipoprotein lipase to act on a specific lipoprotein,   wherein the free glycerol and triglyceride contained in lipoproteins other than the specific lipoprotein are pretreated in the presence of a polycyclic polyoxyalkylene derivative having an HLB of 12 to 15.   
   
   
       15 . A reagent for assaying a lipid contained in a specific lipoprotein, comprising:
 a polycyclic polyoxyalkylene derivative which acts on a specific lipoprotein, and   a target lipid assay reagent.   
   
   
       16 . The reagent according to  claim 15 , wherein the specific lipoprotein is HDL, LDL, IDL, VLDL, chylomicron, or a decomposition product thereof, and the target lipid is cholesterol, triglyceride, or phospholipid. 
   
   
       17 . The reagent according to claim, wherein the polycyclic polyoxyalkylene derivative is a nonionic or anionic surfactant having two or more aryl groups. 
   
   
       18 . The reagent according to  claim 15 , wherein the polycyclic polyoxyalkylene derivative is a polyoxyalkylene ether-type nonionic surfactant having a polycyclic group, in which a phenyl group is substituted by one to five groups selected from among a phenyl group, a naphthyl group, an alkylphenyl group, a phenylalkyl group, and a styryl group. 
   
   
       19 . The reagent according to  claim 15 , wherein the polycyclic polyoxyalkylene derivative is a nonionic surfactant which acts on the specific lipoprotein and has an HLB of 12 to 18, where the specificity of the surfactant to the target lipid does not depend on the HLB of the surfactant but is entirely affected by the number of aryl groups contained in the surfactant. 
   
   
       20 . The reagent according to  claim 15 , wherein the polycyclic polyoxyalkylene derivative is a nonionic surfactant which acts on the specific lipoprotein, and has an HLB of 12 to 18, and further contains two or more aryl groups (exclusive of a surfactant having an HLB of 13 to 15, whose specificity to assay of cholesterol in LDL is affected by a buffer solution). 
   
   
       21 . The reagent according to  claim 15 , wherein the target lipid is HDL cholesterol, and the polycyclic polyoxyalkylene derivative is a nonionic surfactant which acts specifically on HDL and has an HLB of 14.1 to 18. 
   
   
       22 . The reagent according to  claim 15 , wherein the target lipid is cholesterol contained in LDL, and the polycyclic polyoxyalkylene derivative is a nonionic surfactant which acts preferentially on lipoproteins other than LDL and has an HLB of 15.1 to 18. 
   
   
       23 . The reagent according to  claim 15 , wherein the target lipid is triglyceride contained in the specific lipoprotein, and the polycyclic polyoxyalkylene derivative is a polycyclic polyoxyalkylene derivative which acts preferentially on lipoproteins other than LDL, and has an HLB of 12 to 18, and further contains two or more aryl groups. 
   
   
       24 . The reagent according to  claim 15 , wherein
 the target lipid is triglyceride contained in LDL, and   the polycyclic polyoxyalkylene derivative acts preferentially on lipoproteins other than LDL, has an HLB of 12 to 15, and contains two or more aryl groups.
