Data recording method, recording medium and reproduction apparatus

Abstract

A recording medium for storing a data stream is comprised of first error correcting codes obtained by encoding first information, second error correcting codes obtained by encoding second information, and synchronization signals. In the data stream, the second error correcting codes and the synchronization signals alternatively interleave the first error correcting codes. The second error correcting codes have the same number of corrections as the first error correcting codes. A code length of the second error correcting codes is shorter than a code length of the first error correcting codes.

1 . A recording medium for storing a data stream containing first error correcting codes obtained by encoding first information, second error correcting codes obtained by encoding second information, and synchronization signals,
 wherein:   in the data stream, the second error correcting codes and the synchronization signals alternatively interleave the first error correcting codes;   the second error correcting codes have the same number of corrections as the first error correcting codes;   a code length of the second error correcting codes is shorter than a code length of the first error correcting codes; and   the second information includes address information.   
     
     
         2 . A reproduction apparatus for reproducing the data stream recorded on a recording medium according to  claim 1 . 
     
     
         3 . A recording apparatus for reproducing the data stream recorded on a recording medium according to  claim 1  and for performing a recording based on the address information contained in the data stream. 
     
     
         4 . A method for producing a recording medium having the steps of:
 encoding first information to generate first error correcting codes;   encoding second information to generate second error correcting codes;   alternately interleaving the first error correcting codes with the second error correcting codes and the synchronization signals to generate a data stream; and   recording the data stream on the recording medium,   wherein:   the second error correcting codes have a second correction capability higher than a first correction capability of the first error correcting codes; and   the second information includes address information.   
     
     
         5 . A method for producing a recording medium having the steps of:
 encoding first information to generate first error correcting codes;   encoding second information to generate second error correcting codes;   alternately interleaving the first error correcting codes with the second error correcting codes and the synchronization signals to generate a data stream; and   recording the data stream on the recording medium,   wherein:   the second error correcting codes have a second correction capability higher than a first correction capability of the first error correcting codes; and   the first and second error correcting codes are encoded using Reed-Solomon codes.
