Candesartan cilexetil polymorphs

Abstract

Provided are candesartan cilexetil forms and methods of their preparation. Also provided are pharmaceutical compositions prepared by combining at least one pharmaceutically-acceptable excipient with at least one candesartan cilexetil form of the invention.

       35 . A process for preparing candesartan cilexetil Form I comprising the steps of:
 (a) preparing a solution of the candesartan cilexetil of any one of claim  17 ,  20 ,  26 , or  30  in a C 1 -C 4  alcohol; and   (b) precipitating from the solution candesartan cilexetil Form I.   
   
   
       36 . The process of  claim 35 , wherein the alcohol is ethanol. 
   
   
       37 . The process of  claim 35 , wherein the solution of step (b) is cooled at a temperature of from about 0° C. to about 10° C.
