Abstract

Disclosed are cosmetic compositions containing a disodium lauryl sulfosuccinate and a hydrophilically modified urethane. Also disclosed are methods for treating a keratinous substrate, such as skin or hair, by applying the cosmetic compositions to the keratinous substrate to, e.g., cleanse the keratinous substrate or deposit a cosmetically acceptable ingredient thereupon.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
. A fatty acid-free, foaming cosmetic composition comprising a disodium lauryl sulfosuccinate and a hydrophilically modified polyurethane.

. The fatty acid-free, foaming cosmetic composition of claim 1 , wherein said hydrophilically-modified polyurethane comprises DERMOTHIX™ 100.

. The fatty acid-free, foaming cosmetic composition of claim 1 , wherein said disodium lauryl sulfosuccinate comprises MACKANATE™ LO.

. The fatty acid-free, foaming cosmetic composition of claim 1 , wherein said disodium lauryl sulfosuccinate is present in an amount of about 20 wt % to about 40 wt %, based on the total weight of the composition.

. The fatty acid-free, foaming cosmetic composition of claim 1 , wherein said hydrophilically-modified polyurethane is present in an amount of about 1 wt % to about 5 wt %, based on the total weight of the composition.

. The fatty acid-free, foaming cosmetic composition of claim 1 , wherein the pH of the composition is from about 5.2 to about 5.8.

. The fatty acid-free, foaming cosmetic composition of claim 1 , wherein the amount of water present in the composition is less than about 20% based on the total weight of the composition.

. The fatty acid-free, foaming cosmetic composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition is a paste.

. The fatty acid-free, foaming cosmetic composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition, upon lathering, produces a foam with a foam height greater than about 350 millimeters.

. The fatty acid-free, foaming cosmetic composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition, upon lathering, produces a foam with a foam scale score greater then or equal to about 3.5.

. The fatty acid-free, foaming cosmetic composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition has a viscosity between about 50,000 and about 250,000 cps using the Brookfield Method with a T-D spindle at 20° C.

. A fatty acid-free, foaming cosmetic composition comprising about 28.15 wt % MACKANATE™ LO and about 2 wt % DERMOTHIX™ 100, based on the total weight of the composition.

. The fatty acid-free, foaming cosmetic composition of claim 1 , further comprising at least one other cosmetically acceptable ingredient selected from the group consisting of solvents, emulsifiers, surfactants, structuring agents, thickeners or gelling agents, skin conditioning agents, fillers, fibers, sunscreen agents, preservatives, chelators, antioxidants, neutralizing or pH-adjusting agents, cosmetically active agents and dermatological active agents, flavonoids, colorants, aesthetic agents, foam enhancers, botanical extracts, anti-inflammatory agents, and mixtures thereof.

. A method for treating a keratinous substrate comprising applying to the keratinous substrate a fatty acid-free, foaming cosmetic composition comprising a disodium lauryl sulfosuccinate surfactant and a hydrophilically modified polyurethane.

. The method for treating a keratinous substrate of claim 14 , further comprising lathering the cosmetic composition.

. The method of claim 13 , wherein the keratinous substrate is skin or hair.

. The method of claim 14 , wherein said method of treating comprises cleansing the keratinous substrate.

. The method of claim 14 , wherein said method of treating comprises depositing a cosmetically acceptable ingredient on the surface of the keratinous substrate.
