Abstract

The waterproof/breathable moisture transfer liner for a snowboard boot includes an inner liner selected from technically advanced fabrics which are carefully selected. A series of layers are provided outside the inner liner including foam material layers, breathable membranes, a supportive mesh or a moldable foam, and an outer shell fabric. The applicability of the liner to alpine, cross country and hiking boots, along with appropriate variations for each application.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed:

1 . A moisture vapor transfer composite for footwear or apparel comprising:
a fabric layer comprised of stretchable, antimicrobial, synthetic fibers and wool fibers attached to a nonwoven composite comprised of: a first layer of breathable, germicidal open-cell foam a second layer of antimicrobial, stretchable, synthetic fibers, wool and natural fibers capable of absorbing and transferring moisture vapor; a third layer of breathable, germicidal open-cell foam; and a fourth layer of hollow core polyester fibers being capable of absorbing and transferring moisture vapor and thermally regulating, and being mechanically bonded to the first, second and third layers, wherein moisture vapor is transferred from the fabric layer through the first layer, second layer third layer and through the fourth layer.

2 . A composite according to claim 1 , wherein the fabric layer and nonwoven composite are further attached to a third foam material treated with enhanced thermal properties.

3 . A composite according to claim 2 , wherein the nonwoven composite is attached to a stretchable, waterproof, exterior shell fabric or material.

4 . A composite according to claim 1 , wherein one or more layers of the composite contains or is treated to have reversible enhanced thermal properties.

5 . A composite according to claim 1 , wherein the nonwoven composite is further attached to a stretchable, moisture transferring, waterproof exterior shell material.
