Claims

Abstract

An image pickup device includes a plurality of photoelectric transducers. The plurality of photoelectric transducers includes color filters provided thereon. A diffusion-reflection layer is provided in front of the plurality of photoelectric transducers, includes a microstructure which is finer than each light receiving element of the image pickup device and is provided on surfaces of the color filters so as to diffuse and reflect a part of incident light. A part of incident light on the diffusion-reflection layer is reflected and dispersed therefrom, and a remainder of the incident light is transmitted through the diffusion-reflection layer so as to be incident on the plurality of photoelectric transducers.

1 . An image pickup device comprising:
 a plurality of photoelectric transducers, said plurality of photoelectric transducers comprising color filters provided thereon; and   a diffusion-reflection layer provided in front of said plurality of photoelectric transducers and including a microstructure which is finer than each light receiving element of the image pickup device and is provided on surfaces of said color filters so as to diffuse and reflect a part of incident light, wherein a part of light incident on said diffusion-reflection layer is reflected and dispersed therefrom, and a remainder of the incident light is transmitted through said diffusion-reflection layer so as to be incident on said plurality of photoelectric transducers.   
   
   
       2 . The image pickup device according to  claim 1 , wherein said microstructure comprises a diffraction grating structure. 
   
   
       3 . The image pickup device according to  claim 1 , wherein said microstructure is comprised of narrow grooves smaller than the longitudinal or lateral size of the photoelectric transducers. 
   
   
       4 . The image pickup device according to  claim 1 , wherein said microstructure is comprised of narrow projections smaller than the longitudinal or lateral size of the photoelectric transducers. 
   
   
       5 . The image pickup device according to  claim 1 , wherein said microstructure is comprised of a stepped structure which varies in the thickness direction from the central portion of said photoelectric transducers toward the peripheral portion thereof. 
   
   
       6 . The image pickup device according to  claim 1 , wherein said microstructure is comprised of an assembly of condenser lenses having a diameter which is smaller than the longitudinal and lateral sizes of each of said plurality of photoelectric transducers. 
   
   
       7 . An image pickup device comprising:
 a plurality of photoelectric transducers, said plurality of photoelectric transducers comprising color filters provided thereon; and   a diffusion-reflection layer provided in front of said plurality of photoelectric transducers and including a microstructure provided on surfaces of the color filters to diffuse and reflect a part of incident light, wherein a part of light incident on said diffusion-reflection layer is reflected and dispersed therefrom, and a remainder of the incident light is transmitted through said diffusion-reflection layer so as to be incident on said plurality of photoelectric transducers.   
   
   
       8 . The image pickup device according to  claim 7 , wherein said microstructure comprises a diffraction grating structure. 
   
   
       9 . The image pickup device according to  claim 7 , wherein said microstructure is comprised of narrow grooves smaller than the longitudinal or lateral size of the photoelectric transducers. 
   
   
       10 . The image pickup device according to  claim 7 , wherein said microstructure is comprised of narrow projections smaller than the longitudinal or lateral size of the photoelectric transducers. 
   
   
       11 . The image pickup device according to  claim 7 , wherein said. microstructure is comprised of a stepped structure which varies in the thickness direction from the central portion of said photoelectric transducers toward the peripheral portion thereof. 
   
   
       12 . The image pickup device according to  claim 7 , wherein said microstructure is comprised of an assembly of condenser lenses having a diameter which is smaller than the longitudinal and lateral sizes of each of said plurality of photoelectric transducers.
