Abstract

A sharpening device ( 1 ) with a guiding slot ( 6 ) for knife blade to be sharpened and main sharpening rods ( 10 a, 10 b ) arranged on both sides of the guiding slot ( 6 ) that cross each other at a crossing point ( 11 ) in the area of the guiding slot ( 6 ) and that execute pivoting movements ( 14 a, 14 b ) against an elastic spring-activated resetting force when a knife blade abuts against them, is additionally equipped with pre-sharpening elements ( 7 a, 7 b ) in at least one longitudinal segment of the guiding slot ( 6 ). During its course along the guiding slot, a knife blade to be sharpened abuts against the fixed pre-sharpening elements ( 7 a, 7 b ) and against the movable main sharpening rods ( 10 a, 10 b ) whereby the sharpening effect of the sharpening device ( 1 ) on the knife blade is increased.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . Sharpening device ( 1 ) for knife blades, comprising a base plate ( 2 ), a guiding slot ( 6 ) formed as a recess in the base plate ( 2 ) for a knife blade to be sharpened, and main sharpening rods ( 10 a , 10 b ) rotatably mounted on both sides of the guiding slot ( 6 ) against an elastic spring-activated resetting force, with the main sharpening rods ( 10 a , 10 b ) crossing each other in a crossing point ( 11 ) in the area of the guiding slot ( 6 ),
characterized by the fact that pre-sharpening elements ( 7 a , 7 b ) are provided in at least one segment of the guiding slot ( 6 ) that follow the course of the guiding slot ( 6 ) on both sides.

       2 . Sharpening device in accordance with claim 1 , characterized by the fact that the pre-sharpening elements ( 7 a , 7 b ) are provided in the entry area ( 8 ) of the guiding slot ( 6 ).

       3 . Sharpening device in accordance with claim 1 , characterized by the fact that the pre-sharpening elements ( 7 a , 7 b ) extend from the entry opening of the guiding slot ( 6 ) to the crossing point ( 11 ) of the main sharpening rods ( 10 a , 10 b ).

       4 . Sharpening device in accordance with claim 1 , characterized by the fact that the pre-sharpening elements ( 7 a , 7 b ) extend across the entire length of the guiding slot ( 6 ).

5 . Sharpening device in accordance with one of the preceding claims, characterized by the fact that the guiding slot ( 6 ) is widened in its entry area ( 8 ).

6 . Sharpening device in accordance with one of the preceding claims, characterized by the fact that the pre-sharpening elements ( 7 a , 7 b ) protrude into the guiding slot ( 6 ).

7 . Sharpening device in accordance with one of the preceding claims, characterized by the fact that the pre-sharpening elements ( 7 a , 7 b ) are formed as rods, preferably as round rods.

8 . Sharpening device in accordance with claim 7 , characterized by the fact that the pre-sharpening elements ( 7 a , 7 b ) protrude into the guiding slot ( 6 ) with half of their diameter, preferably with their entire diameter.

       9 . Sharpening device in accordance with one of the preceding claims, characterized by the fact that the pre-sharpening elements ( 7 a , 7 b ) and/or the main sharpening rods ( 10 a , 10 b ) have on their surface a coating, such as a wolfram-carbide coating or a diamond coating, in particular with the pre-sharpening elements ( 7 a , 7 b ) having a coarser surface structure than the main sharpening rods ( 10 a , 10 b ).

10 . Sharpening device in accordance with one of the preceding claims, characterized by the fact that the pre-sharpening elements ( 7 a , 7 b ) are arranged on the base plate ( 2 ) in replaceable fashion.

11 . Sharpening device in accordance with one of the preceding claims, characterized by the fact that on the base plate ( 2 ) below the guiding slot, a protective plate ( 5 ) is provided that is arranged crosswise to the course of the guiding slot ( 6 ).

12 . Sharpening device in accordance with one of the preceding claims, characterized by the fact that the sharpening device ( 1 ) has a handle ( 3 ) that is preferably provided with an anti-slipping coating.
