Abstract

Disclosed herein is a portable apparatus for training a user in increasing levels of skill, control and maneuverability of a board for a board sport. The portable apparatus comprises a foot placement mat and a support unit. The foot placement mat comprises multiple placement zones for indicating a first location for positioning a support unit and second locations for placing the user's feet. The support unit comprises laterally opposite support members and hand placement platforms. Each of the laterally opposite support members comprises an elongated section and a lower protruding section. The hand placement platforms are detachably attached to the elongated section or the lower protruding section of the laterally opposite support members for enabling placement of the user's hands in an elevated position or a lower position respectively. The support unit positioned on the foot placement mat enables the training of the user in increasing levels of skill, control and maneuverability of a board for a board sport.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A support unit for training a user in increasing levels of skill, control and maneuverability of a board for a board sport, the support unit comprising:
 laterally opposite support members each comprising an elongated section and a lower protruding section, a first hand placement platform connected with the elongated section of the laterally opposite support members; a second hand placement platform connected with the lower protruding section of the laterally opposite support members such that the second hand placement platform is positioned lower in elevation than the first hand placement platform; a first toe cave formed by the laterally opposite support members and the first hand placement platform; and a second toe cave formed by the laterally opposite support members and the second hand placement platform.

       2 . The support unit in accordance with claim 1 , wherein each of the first and second hand placement platforms have a contoured profile at least partially coincident with the respective first and second toe caves.

       3 . The support unit in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the first and second hand placement platforms are positioned horizontally and perpendicularly to the laterally opposite support members.

       4 . The support unit in accordance with claim 1 , further comprising a chest elevation pad detachably placed on each of the first and second hand placement platforms to increase an elevation of an upper body of the user resting their upper body against each respective first or second hand placement platform.

       5 . The support unit in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the first and second hand placement platforms are detachable from the laterally opposite support members.

       6 . An apparatus for training a user in increasing levels of skill, control and maneuverability of a board for a board sport, the support unit comprising:
 a support unit comprising:
 laterally opposite support members each comprising an elongated section and a lower protruding section,
 a first hand placement platform connected with the elongated section of the laterally opposite support members;
 a second hand placement platform connected with the lower protruding section of the laterally opposite support members such that the second hand placement platform is positioned lower in elevation than the first hand placement platform;
 a first toe cave formed by the laterally opposite support members and the first hand placement platform;
 a second toe cave formed by the laterally opposite support members and the second hand placement platform; and
 a foot placement mat representing the board of the board sport, the foot placement mat having a plurality of foot placement zones and at least one placement location designation for the support unit, each foot placement zone representing a suggested placement of a user's foot on the foot placement mat.

       7 . The apparatus in accordance with claim 6 , wherein each of the first and second hand placement platforms of the support unit have a contoured profile at least partially coincident with the respective first and second toe caves.

       8 . The apparatus in accordance with claim 6 , wherein the first hand placement platform of the support unit is provided in a plane that is normal to a plane of the second hand placement platform of the support unit, and wherein access to the second hand placement platform is enabled by tilting the support unit on the foot placement map by 90 degrees.

       9 . An apparatus for training a user in increasing levels of skill, control and maneuverability of a board for a board sport, the support unit comprising:
 a foot placement mat representing the board of the board sport, the foot placement mat having a plurality of foot placement zones and at least one support unit placement location, each foot placement zone representing a suggested placement of a user's foot on the foot placement mat; a support unit sized and adapted for placement at the at least one support unit placement location on the foot placement map, the support unit comprising:
 laterally opposite support members each comprising an elongated section and a lower protruding section,
 a first hand placement platform connected with the elongated section of the laterally opposite support members;
 a second hand placement platform connected with the lower protruding section of the laterally opposite support members such that the second hand placement platform is positioned lower in elevation than the first hand placement platform;
 a first toe cave formed by the laterally opposite support members and the first hand placement platform; and
 a second toe cave formed by the laterally opposite support members and the second hand placement platform.

       10 . The apparatus in accordance with claim 9 , wherein each of the first and second hand placement platforms of the support unit have a contoured profile comprising a contoured cut-in above the respective first and second toe caves
