Decoder Device And Receiver Using The Same

Abstract

A display apparatus includes a receiving unit, which is configured to receive video data, caption data, and program information data, a first on-screen unit, which is configured to display a caption, upon a basis of a second on-screen unit, which is configured to display program information, a format converting unit, and a display unit. When a video on which a caption is displayed is displayed by the display unit, a picture format of a caption is converted by the format converting unit in accordance with conversion of a picture format of a video, and when a video on which program information is displayed by the display unit, a picture format of a program information is not converted.

1 . A display apparatus comprising:
 a receiving unit, which is configured to receive video data, caption data, and program information data;   a first on-screen unit, which is configured to display a caption, upon a basis of caption data received by said receiving unit, on a video upon a basis of video data received by said receiving unit;   a second on-screen unit, which is configured to display program information, upon a basis of program information data received by said receiving unit, on a video upon a basis of video data received by said receiving unit;   a format converting unit, which is configured to convert a picture format of a video upon a basis of video data received by said receiving unit; and   a display unit, which is configured to display a caption displayed by said first on-screen unit, on a format-converted video converted by said format converting unit, or program information displayed by said second on-screen unit, on a format-converted video converted by said format converting unit;   wherein when a video on which a caption is displayed is displayed by said display unit, a picture format of a caption is converted by said format converting unit in accordance with conversion of a picture format of a video; and   wherein when a video on which program information is displayed by said display unit, a picture format of a program information is not converted.   
     
     
         2 . A display apparatus comprising:
 a receiving unit, which is configured to receive video data, caption data, and program information data;   a first on-screen unit, which is configured to display a caption, upon a basis of caption data received by said receiving unit, on a video upon a basis of video data received by said receiving unit;   a second on-screen unit, which is configured to display program information, upon a basis of program information data received by said receiving unit, on a video upon a basis of video data received by said receiving unit;   a format converting unit, which is configured to convert a picture format of a video upon a basis of video data received by said receiving unit; and   a display unit, which is configured to display a video on which said caption and/or said program information is/are displayed, and of which a picture format is converted by said format converting unit;   wherein a picture format of said caption, being displayed along with said video, is converted by said format converting unit, and a picture format of said program information, being displayed along with said video, is not converted.   
     
     
         3 . A display apparatus comprising:
 a receiving unit, which is configured to receive video data, caption data, and program information data;   a format converting unit, which is configured to convert a display size of a video upon a basis of the video data, and a display size of a caption upon basis of the caption data; and   a display unit, which is configured to display a display size-converted video and caption, and program information upon a basis of the program information data, which is a predetermined display size, simultaneously.
