Abstract

Polymeric compositions comprising polyolefins, amphiphilic block copolymers composed of polyisobutene blocks and polyoxyalkylene blocks and also optionally other polymers and/or fillers. Processes for dyeing or for printing such compositions and the use of amphiphilic block copolymers as auxiliaries for dyeing and printing polyolefins.

1 . A polymeric composition comprising at least one polyolefin and also at least one block copolymer comprising
 at least one hydrophobic block (A) constructed essentially of isobutene units, and   at least one hydrophilic block (B) constructed essentially of oxyalkylene units and having an average molar mass M n  of not less than 1000 g/mol.   
   
   
       2 . The polymeric composition according to  claim 1  wherein the polyolefin is a homo- or copolymer of polypropylene or of polyethylene. 
   
   
       3 . The polymeric composition according to  claim 1  or  2  comprising further polymers other than polyolefins and block copolymers. 
   
   
       4 . The polymeric composition according to  claim 3  wherein the further polymers comprise polyesters and/or polyamides. 
   
   
       5 . The polymeric composition according to  claim 3  or  4  wherein the amount of the further polymers is in the range from 0.1% to 20% by weight, based on the total amount of polyolefins and further polymers. 
   
   
       6 . The polymeric composition according to any one of  claims 1  to  5  wherein
 the average molar mass M n  of the hydrophobic blocks (A) of the block copolymer is in the range from 200 to 10 000 g/mol and   the average molar mass M n  of the hydrophilic blocks (B) of the block copolymer is in the range from 1000 to 20 000 g/mol.   
   
   
       7 . The polymeric composition according to any one of  claims 1  to  6  wherein the hydrophilic block (A) comprises not less than 50% by weight of ethylene oxide units. 
   
   
       8 . The polymeric composition according to any one of  claims 1  to  6  wherein the block copolymer is at least one triblock copolymer of the general formula A-B-A. 
   
   
       9 . The polymeric composition according to any one of  claims 1  to  6  wherein the block copolymers are mixtures at least of triblock and diblock copolymers of the general formulae A-B-A and A-B respectively. 
   
   
       10 . The polymeric composition according to any one of  claims 1  to  9  wherein the amount of block copolymers is in the range from 0.05% to 10% by weight based on the total amount of all the components of the composition. 
   
   
       11 . The polymeric composition according to  claim 10  wherein the amount of block copolymers is in the range from 0.1% to 6% by weight. 
   
   
       12 . The polymeric composition according to any one of  claims 1  to  11  further comprising at least one dye. 
   
   
       13 . The polymeric composition according to  claim 12  wherein the dye is a disperse dye. 
   
   
       14 . The polymeric composition according to any one of  claims 1  to  13  comprising an apparel or home textile. 
   
   
       15 . The polymeric composition according to any one of  claims 1  to  14  further comprising at least one filler. 
   
   
       16 . The polymeric composition according to  claim 15  wherein the filler comprises one or more selected from the group of CaCO 3 , Al(OH) 3 , Mg(OH) 2 , talc, glass fibers or sheet silicates. 
   
   
       17 . The polymeric composition according to  claim 15  wherein the filler comprises a nanoparticulate sheet silicate. 
   
   
       18 . The polymeric composition according to  claim 15  wherein the filler comprises a flame retardant. 
   
   
       19 . A process for dyeing a polymeric composition comprising treating an undyed polymeric composition with a formulation comprising at least water and a dye, wherein the undyed polymeric composition used is undyed polymeric composition according to any one of  claims 1  to  11  and the polymeric composition is heated during and/or after the treatment to a temperature greater than its glass transition temperature T g  but lower than its melting temperature. 
   
   
       20 . The process according to  claim 19  wherein the polymeric composition is used in the form of fibers, yarns, wovens, nonwovens, drawn-loop knits, formed-loop knits and/or other textile materials. 
   
   
       21 . A process for printing a substrate comprising printing an unprinted substrate composed of a polymeric composition with a suitable printing paste at least comprising a dye and also customary components, wherein the unprinted substrate composed of a polymeric composition is a dyed or undyed polymeric composition according to any one of  claims 1  to  13  and the polymeric composition is heated during and/or after the printing to a temperature greater than its glass transition temperature T 9  but lower than its melting temperature. 
   
   
       22 . The process according to  claim 21  wherein the substrate is a textile substrate. 
   
   
       23 . The process according to any one of  claims 19  to  22  wherein the dye is a disperse dye. 
   
   
       24 . The process according to any one of  claims 19  to  23  wherein the polyolefin in the polymeric composition is a homo- or copolymer of polypropylene or of polyethylene. 
   
   
       25 . A use of a block copolymer comprising
 at least one hydrophobic block (A) constructed essentially of isobutene units, and   at least one hydrophilic block (B) constructed essentially of oxyalkylene units and having an average molar mass M n  of not less than 1000 g/mol,   
     as an auxiliary for dyeing or printing polyolefins or mixtures of polyolefins with further polymers. 
   
   
       26 . The use according to  claim 25  wherein the dyeing or printing is effected using disperse dyes.
