Abstract

Disclosed are various embodiments of undergarments with substantially transparent portions. Embodiments of the undergarments are configured to be worn around the pelvis of a user and may include one or more panels of substantially transparent material surrounding a substantial portion of the waist area and a fabric portion sized and positioned to substantially cover the genitals of a wearer. In some embodiments, the substantially transparent material comprises perforations and may comprise polyurethane.

1 . Underwear comprising:
 an upper portion; and   a genital portion configured to substantially cover the genitals of a human;   wherein the upper portion comprises a substantially transparent material including perforations configured to facilitate the passage of air therethrough.   
   
   
       2 . The underwear of  claim 1 , wherein the upper portion comprises a waistband configured to fit around at least a portion of a human pelvis. 
   
   
       3 . The underwear of  claim 2 , wherein the underwear defines an overall rise measured from the bottom of the genital portion when the underwear is laid flat to the upper plane defined by the waistband, and the waistband comprises between approximately 25% and approximately 85% of the overall rise. 
   
   
       4 . The underwear of  claim 3 , wherein the waistband comprises approximately 35% of the overall rise. 
   
   
       5 . The underwear of  claim 4 , wherein the perforations comprise multiple small diameter holes. 
   
   
       6 . The underwear of  claim 1 , wherein the substantially transparent material comprises polyurethane. 
   
   
       7 . The underwear of  claim 1 , wherein the substantially transparent material comprises a flexible plastic. 
   
   
       8 . The underwear of  claim 1 , wherein the substantially transparent material exhibits at least some elasticity. 
   
   
       9 . The underwear of  claim 1 , wherein the genital portion comprises at least one of the set comprising:
 bamboo;   cotton;   silk;   nylon; and   spandex.   
   
   
       10 . The underwear of  claim 1 , wherein the underwear is a thong. 
   
   
       11 . The underwear of  claim 2 , wherein the upper portion and the genital portion are integrally formed. 
   
   
       12 . The underwear of  claim 1 , wherein the waistband comprises two or more components joined together. 
   
   
       13 . The underwear of  claim 12 , wherein the waistband components are seamlessly welded together. 
   
   
       14 . The underwear of  claim 13 , wherein the waistband defines a “V” shape with the bottom of the shape positioned in the middle of the front top of the waistband. 
   
   
       15 . The underwear of  claim 1 , wherein the waistband is attached to the genital portion by means of gathered stitches. 
   
   
       16 . An unobtrusive undergarment comprising:
 an upper portion comprising:
 a waistband designed to fit around a portion of a human pelvis; 
 a front panel; and 
 a back panel; and 
   a genital portion designed to cover the genitals of the human wearer;   wherein the waistband, the front panel, and the back panel comprises one or more substantially transparent materials; and   wherein the transparent portion of the back panel extends lower than the transparent portion of the front panel.   
   
   
       17 . The unobtrusive undergarment of  claim 16 , wherein at least part of the upper portion is perforated. 
   
   
       18 . The unobtrusive undergarment of  claim 16 , wherein at least part of the upper portion resembles lace. 
   
   
       19 . The unobtrusive undergarment of  claim 16 , wherein the upper portion further comprises a colored element. 
   
   
       20 . The unobtrusive undergarment of  claim 19 , wherein the colored element is restricted to a part of the upper portion that is not visible during normal wear of the undergarment with outerwear.
